in my old days i used to walk around 5-8 km's in some occasions but that was when i didnt have any transport and used to walk my ass to places i wanted to go. then mostly i used bike for same distance, now i guess using car for 4 years made me lazy ass :frusty:

Bawa

I think the suggestion that swimming might be a better course of action holds some weight (as does the water)

You can then move on to a bike once you have toned up a bit. One of the more robust mountain bikes should hold you no problem but your legs will feel like rubber if you start cycling without first getting a bit exercise in.

I don't think that that is the correct answer. There is a possibility that you could do some harm if you have your body virtually living on stored fat. Reduce the amount you eat each meal. You should only be trying to lose about 2 to 4 pounds a week without medical supervision. Good luck.:)

You can have 1000 of bikes but it's nothing if you don't use them. You need to be more activ and for that you don't need bike. Rest your car for 2-3 months and you will see results :P

BawA

well today i went for same distance and pain was same but lasted a lil lesser then yesterday
btw am loving it, ill be doing this for 1 month and see what happens.
and as said i reduced my meals to one from three and its only salad with some chicken.
should work if not ill...

ok so i bought hydroxy cut pills to aid my weight loss thingy, i still walk/jog 2Km(1.2miles) and a five minutes of practice, i changed from 1 shift eating to 2, morning i eat 2 slice bread with very little white cheese on it and same lunch which is salad and a chicken breast on it.
so...

it was going ok, apart from 7KG in 3 months i lost 3 more since i started pills BUT it stopped reducing and weight jammed at 143KG and only few grams goes up and down.
i dont know what the hell is wrong, before i go to sleep am starving to death; a person setting next to me can hear what noises my stomach is making and i wait till next morning and my weight is still 143KG, for god sake i eat my lunch at 1pm and dont eat anything till 9am next morning that 20 hours of eating nothing + pills + practice; why the hell its not reducing ?

pills which am using has the instructions to eat 2 pills 3 times a day but where i took the pills they instructed me to eat 2 times a day and should be taken 30-60 mins before each meal. i bought those pills from a professional health care shop so should i go with their recommendation or companies ?
also me nothing eating anything prior to 2nd shift(pills) effects on losing any weight like not losing it?

Alien5

to stop the hunger pangs, try to eat more complex carbs - oatmeal - rice - brown brad n crap like that.

those pills are not very good, you're paying for a brand name more than anything.

if you seriously want to loose weight you might have to start measuring cals in everything you eat, get some food charts that measure cals per gram of food

for example:
like i small egg = 15 grams of protein and 25 grams of fat
i bowl of rice = 150 grams of carbs

then make a diary of the exercise your doing like this

i hour of slow jogging = 6000 calories burned.

each week yo can look in th diary to see if what you're doing is getting results, then adjust your diet and exercise to suit the best weight loss.

ive got some good books on sports nutrition and weight training, running, swimming, cycling are very good for burning fat, just stay away from oily fatty foods as much as possible.

after a month or two of training you will see results, you wont see much difference unless you keep at it.

good luck

@Alen
well as i said am away from oily food completely, no rice which is why i gain this much weight in the 1st place, we have rice almost every day. last time i eat rice was around 4 months ago.
BUT i eat once in a week a BK burger meal everything on it and to adjust that i dont eat next morning, thats my deal, i atleast keep Thursday to eat something which i like. do you think that would hurt ?

@CG thanks
you're more supportive then my family.
here is some quotes from my father:
me: i did 2Km today
Dad: huh, that wont do any good, i do 8kms, in my early age i used to do 10.
now i know that a bunch of BS but the ironic part is he says he still can do it in age of 60 and will do it in 1 hour

Alien5

no as long as you burn more calories than you eat, thats where a diary can come in handy.

the most usefull book ive read about training and diet is: Stuart McRobert - Beyond Brawn, second edition

its more weight training orientated but has so much good advice on making your life revolve around diet and exercise for people who can't make progress, its also really inspiring for a beginner, its written from the point of view of a skinny nerdy guy who wanted to be muscular and made lots of mistakes.

Ignore your Dad when he says things like that. He's jealous of your youth and trying to make you feel bad about yourself so he feels better about the fact that he is getting on in years. You do what is right for you. You are not your Dad! As your body gets used to excersise you'll be able to more and more until your Dad's 10 will look like a stroll round the park!

Huh. Parents suck.

wouldn't recommend running if you're seriously overweight, its a high impact activity and puts craploads more strain on the joints, tendons & ligaments in your legs. Also if you can't keep running for at least 1/2 hour its probably not doing much, so you'd be better off switching to swimming as others have suggested. It should be easier to do for longer and theres loads less chance of picking up an injury.

If you do not eat your body will believe you are starving and your metabolism will not be as good as if you eat. Eating less but more times in a day is a very effective way to have your metabolism going on, on a high rate.

Guys what you think of this
http://www.fatloss4idiots.com/1280index2.html
please read whole, i am really considering this since am not losing anything from past 3 weeks and their words seems so true cuz it happened to me what their trying to prove. they say eating more but right will make you lose and as i said before it happen that i went for a week or two under strict diet without result but the following week i changed my diet with one n8 me eating some heavy food which made me lose 2 Kg over night.

CrabGirl
11-18-2007, 04:52 PM
Bawa, If you don't eat your body holds onto stored fat to protect iteself from starvation. If you eat a sensible balanced diet with regular small meals you will loose weight. If you don't eat, your metabolism, which is the thing that burns the fat away, will be slower. Eat regularly and the fat burning ability of your body will be faster.

I cant think of any more ways of putting it but: NO FOOD=BODY HOLDS ONTO STORED FAT. REGULAR HEALTHY FOOD=BODY WILL USE MORE STORED FAT.

Have you considered speaking to a professional dietician. Getting a diet sheet from him/ her. Then sticking to that. Strikes me that's your best bet.

I would think most decent gyms either have one or could point you in the right direction. Bearing in mind that different people have different lifestyles and different goals so may have different dietary requirements.

I am now recovering from a swift kick to the bawls. I've been punished (oh...how I've been punished).
