I am curious to know if any Karagarga or Cinema Obscura members could enlighten me on which tracker would be better for older movies (westerns, etc.). I recently saw a debate elsewhere with people claiming CO is better, now that they're back online.

I most certainly love DVD movies and my collection grows bigger every day. I've also been looking for some older flicks for a few members of the family and it seems that one of these sites may be my best bet in finding them.

If anyone has any input I'd greatly appreciate it. :yup:

in my opinion they're the same...some stuff you find on CO you cant find on KG and vice versa :)

KG is MUCH better imo, it has around 10 times more torrents.

The content is pretty much the same, but they get things at different times, months apart, so its nice to check both sites daily for something interesting.

However, you don't see a lot of Westerns on CO, compared to KG.

hmmmm....

When it comes to a narrow genre it's hard to tell as beauty lies in the eye of the beholder so to speak.

I'm a member of KG not CO, so I can only answer from my own limited experience.

To pass muster as an accepted torrent on the tracker the film first and foremost cannot be currently mainstream. Art House, Experimental, Short, Foreign, etc are what you see primarily. Historical films that may have had huge blockbuster appeal in their day are acceptable, so if you are a John Wayne/Gary Cooper/John Huston fan than KG has loads of films available.

A nice feature of KG is their Movie of the Month, where they choose a particular director/genre etc, so if you're lucky, you could get a whole lineup of films that fit with your interest.

Getting invited to KG is pretty straight forward (similar to what is in place for TDC). Go to their forums, and find the thread "invite to KG" (or something similar). You have to answer some pretty straight forward questions about what your film interests are etc; and if this type of specialist tracker fits with your passion then you should get an invite with no difficulty.

Hope this helps.

KG has a lot more torrents than CO but if you have a slow connection it is much better to seed on CO as they have more leechers

KG blows my socks off, everything about it. Content is truly outstanding (and mind expanding). In terms of features, I especially like the 'torrent bumping' functionality which auto bumps a torrent to the front of the Browse list whenever a user reseeds a torrent for someone, this results in a continual refreshing of older torrents to the Browse list which in turns gets the attention of new leechers. This function is quite helpful when a site has close to 30,000 torrents.

Until recently discovering KG, I never knew such a goldmine of rare content (quite literally a library) existed in the torrent world...KG is a gem.

I used CO only briefly, but to be honest I found CO's layout/navigation very poor and confusing (when compared to KG), so much so that I couldn't even be too bothered to spend a lot of time exploring. Although, from what I've read here (and many other places) KG's content is superior.

However if CO has improved since coming back online I'll have to give it another look.

and the other two specialist trackers that have older content are Cinemageddon & Zamunda, but KG is truly a gem and a daily visit for me, i have just recently been invited to CO but KG is definitely the one I prefer.

http://cinemageddon.org has only been around for ~6 months and has lot of potential.

But to answer ur question, i myself prefer KG: look, content, community and pretty much everything. However, if you are a old movie fan, i would say it's good to be on both: KG and CO.

Both sites are very good if you're a classic/euro/obscure movies fan. I think KG has more traffic, but it's harder to seed there, although they do have a nice bonus system that helps. I find CO's forums more interesting to read, though.

PM me if you need help getting into either/both.

I am a member at Cinematik. Yes it is a great source for arthouse, alternative, cult and classic movies. As for Western, Tik's got a whole section for it. I believe the forum registration is open.

Well just heard about KG and CO recently...Seems I have missed a lot for not knowing these two:happy: Too bad, registration for these two trackers and their forums are all closed. :(Guess I have to dig a bit.
