I got the idea from reading Celerystalksmes topic about the worst cover songs. so, what are the best cover songs you've heard? Ones that are jsut as good as the original or even better.

Nightwish - Over the Hills And Far Aw

Gary Moore cover song. The original is pretty good also. This one has stronger chrouses and has a harder sound to it.

Demons & Wizards - White Room

Nice metal cover of that famous Cream song. :)

I've got a live album of Les Claypool & The Frog Brigade doing the Pink Floyd "Animals" album live.
It's excellent. I've ripped it, so if anyone wants a copy we can arrange something.

Marisa Monte's cover of the Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes" is excellent.

The song was written by Lou Reed, and first appeared on:

Artist: The Velvet Underground
Album: The Velvet Underground
Year: 1969

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002G7G.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Marisa Monte's cover version appeared on:

Artist: Marisa Monte
Album: Verde Anil Amarelo Cor de Rosa e Carvao
Year: 1994

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000005GYB.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Both versions are wonderful to listen to.

Tchau!

The Agony Scene's "Paint it Black"

Earth Crisis' "Paint it Black"

Both of these songs are very good covers.
