well, vote for which one you prefer/think has the most potential. Remember to back up your vote. :) this should be interesting

*This should be an Epic Thread, maybe some ppl can use this to decide which thread to put all their uploading efforts into :)

voted for what.cd cause the rest 2 sites just aren't opened yet so it's ridiculous to judge them yet, though I guess waffles might surprise us.

I SEE YOUR VOTES BUT NO POSTS, post your explanations!

not really, as the sites open more votes will come in and be equal. I suppose this will be a big thread anyway, I might as well just start it now.

:yup:
Even a couple of weeks premature.
You can't give an opinion on a site that hasn't been opened yet, and you can't say how good a site is after only 2 days...

WarrenBuffet
10-30-2007, 10:57 PM
you can get a hell of a good idea. What does 8000+ torrents in 3 days look like to you lol?

That wouldn't matter at all if the site had a lot of cheaters and no good script to catch them; a faulty code with security issues; irresponsible staff; etc etc (I'm not saying this site has this problems, I'm just saying it's too early to give an evaluation, considering all this things take time)

Based on what has been said on this thread:
http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-bittorrent-43/t-the-wafflefm-thread-put-everything-here-244879
and other places, the site will start working in about 9 hours, but it will be invite only from the beginning (no open sign ups)

10-30-2007, 11:35 PM
boink will be a joke, as the name itself imples

what.cd desperately needs more members, 8753 torrents but no one is downloading them, the place is stagnant. There's no point in uploading without downloaders.

waffles.fm is an unknown quantity, if it's on a proper server and gets 40k+ users, maybe.

other gets my vote for now ... if Oink came back, no contest.

MrLazy
10-30-2007, 11:35 PM
ok so about getting an invite on day one from the start...anyone think this is just a little little bit impossible ? or is it just me :)

well 2 of the 4 sites(including others) mentioned r not up yet ...well i am a member of what.cd and hopefully will be member of waffels.fm.....but when boink comes out i will definatly register myself all thou its an open tracker just to show my support i hope everyone sign up for boink too.. irrespective of u use the site or not just to show that we are in this together...i think open tracker is a really good concept ...but people should share honestly ,which never happens
i remember i downloaded my first torrent from pirate bay:inlove:..
its not and it should not be always about being exclusive

10-31-2007, 01:17 AM
Yea.. you should have added trackers that are open rather then the ones which are about to open.
My choice was libble until what? came into the scene and I like theMusik for the community. Very warm and frendly staff.
Lets see what waffles and boink bring to us

i gave an early vote for waffles since i tihnk thats the one with most ex-oink staff will be members or staff again even if they dont admit it. what.cd is good but kinda buggy and i tihnk it was throw together fast to cash in on the gap that needed filling and a lot of ex-oinkers came in and uploaded a lot of music really fast. thats great but i think in the long run waffles will be better. im excited to see though and i should be getting the email invite later tonight so at that time i'll be able to come back and let you know for sure which is the better site at least layout and functionaltiy wise. maybe they'll both grow into huge sites and then instead of our 1 oink we'll have 2 good oink replicas. :)

What.cd? is my best guess. I have now seen both trackers and can honestly say that what.cd? has a better feel to it. I am sure others will like waffles more but 1.) I still can't help but think waffles could be a "trap" 2.) what.cd? has a nice lead...and we all know what happens when you release something sooner (Xbox360) or prolong release (PS3)...

libble is one best music site nowHow many torrents does it have and users, dave? Curious to see how many more it has to whatcd

Daniel
10-31-2007, 07:46 AM
Well, What.cd has one advantage to waffles.fm and that's their quick organization. They have managed to create a new tracker, with over 6k users and 10k torrents in less than one week while waffles.fm had a long anticipated grand opening ... and nothing's happening yet ;) I'm sure that some users will join soon or have joined already but it all points to a slower start for the newest of music trackers. From what I've read in their IRC/FAQ it will take up to one week for all 1500 invites to be sent out and beyond that, everything needs to happen with invites from users.

I kind of like Waffles more even though I have spent only a few hours on it. It's better much better design, faster speeds (yeah kind of full of sct seedboxers) and torrents got uploaded probably as fast as on what.cd (something like 2,5k in 7 hrs?). Plus, +10gb upload kinda ruined what.cd totally for me.

I've joined one of these so called Oink replacements, and I have to admit it does look promising at first glance, but come on - you can't seriously compare sites which are up for less than a week to the more established music trackers.

I'm in both what.cd and waffles.fm, and frankly they are both great.
Started with...
what.cd = 10 gigs upload credit
waffles.fm = free leech for 2-3 days

They are both getting hit with start up issues too (i.e.: hardware ) That's been my biggest disappointment so far, but what can you expect...they just opened, patience :)

It's too early to say who will be the best and frankly I don't care. I'm supporting both equally and frankly I hope they both stay alive. I'd rather have 2 50k user sites then 1 massive 200k user site and have it shutdown...

BOink = public music tracker = never going to work in my opinion...quality control is non-existent...

Give these 2 sites at least 2-3 months, then we'll talk... :whistling

A. Many of us got in cd before waffels

B. There was/is more publicity of cd here than others.

C. At paine's blog comparatively there is more add for waffels.

D. Waffels is better :D

what.cd is back in the race now

I think waffles is going to win this race no matter what the poll says!
most X-oinkers from the memorial forums say they are going to uploading everything that they had on oink when they get in, if most are not in already in.
Waffles also has a better feel and loads quicker!

already you can see that waffles has considerably less users but more torrents than what.cd:

Waffles: Registered users 2,598
Torrents 16,743

What: Registered users 9,244
Torrents 15,892

just compare the amount of users/torrent ratio on both and you have your winner:)

Edit: the only problem with waffles.fm right now is the lack of leechers. but once we get more members that should not be a problem!

The big problem with What.cd now is that people are uploading all these torrents, but then don't seed them. Everything I search has 0 seeders, which is really tending to piss me off.

I don't believe this is true. The site had major problems in the past days that resulted in multiple downtimes for the tracker. Each time I looked into my uTorrent half of the torrents I was trying to seed were offline and that has surely been the same for other users as well.

The torrents are fine now. Why don't you do a general search, the first page will have atleast half the torrents showing 0 seeders. (That's if you don't use excluding dead torrents, of course.) People simply aren't seeding what they upload, I tried to download a Notorious BIG album and the last seeder it had was on 7 days ago.:(

i have to say that what.cd seems to be the better tracker right now, although i do not actually have an account at waffles, seeing all the free giveaways for what.cd show that its promoting a better sharing community, which is exactly what oink had. waffles is just limiting its userbase creating all this hype for a tracker which little have.

WHAT.CD ALL THE WAYYY

WHAT.CD ALL THE WAYYYDon't know about that angry. I'm at both. What gave us 10gig, Waffles gaves us 5gig and a couple of freeleeches. Freeleeches are better than gigabite gifts because at least they encourage active dloading which creates more seeds and faster speeds. At the moment both are still starting up. Waffles has more torrents though, 24,990 compared to 18,455. I'm still split. What has mac apps, and craploads of them. Waffles has kids music. Nice. Still early for mine.

What.cd had free-leech over this past weekend. According to the home page, it now has 40,000 torrents upped. Some of those may be duplicates, I don't know - but it's growing extremely fast. Plus, the free-leech was awesome. It definitely has my vote!

I didn't vote just yet, am not a member of any of the sites. All I know is that if one of the sites offered the feature that OiNK had with search for similar artist etc. I'd probably vote for it.

Not quite... What.cd had open sign-ups and a lot of invites given out...

Waffle does....

I still haven't decided... both have great "unique" features.
But , for now, both are still growing good and fast which is very nice.

So... it's a What-Waffle combo :P

:) then Waffles.fm will be my first goal to try out.. The best feature for a music tracker in my opinion. Still haven't deleted OiNK from my bookmarks, the thought of it makes me uncomfortable :/

My bad... just read you r post again... Waffle has a "more of (artist)" link. It's just a shortcut.

I think you're talking about Oinkplus.... (more similiar artists, description, Lastfm player etc...

The creator of Oinkplus has adapted it for both What.cd and Waffle.

Another GREAT feature that both of them now have is a "Upload description filler". You just have to type the Artist, click Fetch and then select the album from a list and the description is automatically filled.

This is really a thing that made the uploaders lives a lot easier...
Was going nuts filling 1000's of descriptions.

the problem is only 30% of the 5.000 albums i uploaded so far were found in this data base.

Yeah...
I've had a few cases like that already 2 but it's a great script and perhaps future versions will have more results. (more places for it to go fetch results)

At least, that's what I hope :shifty::happy:
