I donīt think the white stripes count as hard rock, but yea theyīre good..
I really donīt listen to much hard rock I think if youīre gonna stay true to the genre, but hey bring it on. Iīm up for suggestions on great music as long as it has "rock" in it and isnīt commercial crap ;)

I really like the band 'Monster Magnet'. I think their latest album came out 2 years ago but its still good! Their genre is Hard/Space/Stoner Rock. Give it a try, its not the usual commercial crap!

Just how do you define recent? Is there a time limit?
If no, I'd say Dying Fetus, Sodom, Morbid Angel... But those have been around for 5-10 years now... But you probably already know them...

Okay.. I was a bit in doubt as to whether they qualified as hard rock, but seeing as you said Powderfinger, Celerystalksme...
Grinspoon and Frenzal Rhomb.. although Frenzal are more punk oriented, but not in the traditional sense, like the Sex Pistols et al.

Well seeing all the band mentioned here I might as well mention Turbonegro. They are a bit more commersial than they used to be, but still a great band. Allthough I think the genre is described as "deathpunk"..hehe
