I dont think it really matters if Kazaa shuts down, because we'll always have K-Lite. Whats worse is if the Fasttrack Network shuts down.

My (non techie) understanding:-

The Fasttrack Network is created by p2p software such as Kazaa and Grokster. It does not exist as a physical network or organisation, and therefore cannot be 'shut down'. That is unless users stop using said p2p software.

Is it true though that Sharman are not releasing further versions of regular Kazaa?

Did you bother to ask him/her where (s)he heard it from.

Just another idle rumour.

There sure is alot of people that think Kazaa woll get shut down but im very sure its impossible and im also sure Kazaa will still be making new versions, but we dont need kazaa because we have kazaa lite. The only good thing " darkside" kazaa users are good for is getting files from. :)

Just another rumor... (yawns)

Even if the whole FastTrack network somehow broke down,

There would still be file-sharing as long as people
want music, movies, etc. for free.

But right now, we can lean on k-lite

it kinda brings a tear to your eye when you hear about people spreading fear/sadness/hate with their idle rumours.

what's the point of kazaa lite now anyway?
people are now sharing songs on soulseek, and other stuff on emule...so it won't be a big deal if it does end.

man, i need broadband so i can really take advantage of soulseek <_<

hmm...

In order to "shut Kazaa down", you would have to shut everyone's computer down (who has kazaa software on it). Delete all existance of Kazaa software. Then Kazza would be shut down.

Correct me if I am wrong. Kazaa exists, because a number of people enable thier softarware to send and recieve via supernodes. With the supernodes enabled, and PCs without supernodes enabled (local), there is this "invisible" sharing network going on, within the internet.
