2007-10-26 - United we stand, divided we fall?
Whoa, so much happening lately: our CTO (Chief Technical Officer is still missing since September), Oink went down recently and VIPmusic was mentioned in the article at billboard.com as in "the IFPI's cross-hairs". Due to the fact that our CTO is still out of reach (more about our fears in the corresponding thread) we might suspend the operations. There are few things that I'd like to make clear: server HDD's are encrypted with AES and are locked out (only our CTO had access to the server because of security concerns) that is why user database would not be accessible to any third parties. Also unused donations will be sent to EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) which is fighting for free speech rights on the internet.

2007-10-30 - New site - Comments
There is a new site being developed by a core group of veteran VIPMusic users (including former admins, mods, uploaders). We are not promising anything, but we have some big ideas. Check the Mass PM that was sent for more info. Join us in the IRC channel for the latest updates.

--------
That last news is good news but no ratios will be transfered to the new site as the CTO is MIA:(.

PM says...

Ahoy VIPMusic users!

As many of you know now, the VIPMusic.org site as you know it now will be shutting down in the coming days/weeks due to our CTO still being missing (we pray he is ok). However, there is GOOD NEWS. Due to the strong community VIPMusic.org has developed over our 2+ years in existence, we have a core group of dedicated members working on a NEW SITE. While we can't elaborate any further right now and can't promise anything, we would like all members to join our IRC channel (instructions can be found in the forums) and idle to get the latest updates on these exciting developments! Again, nothing is certain, but we know we have the best music community on the net and have the ability to come back stronger than ever. Finally, we are not looking to become another OiNK clone like so many new sites are trying to do. We will stick with the VIP tradition of having great music, great collections, great community and of course, we have a few surprises planned.

Thank you all for the good times. Here is to hoping they continue.

P.S. We are looking for more coders. If you want to help out, come talk to an OP in the IRC channel. Thanks!
