Subtitles with Mplayer

I've been unable to figure out how to get the subtitles to play in mplayer. I tried VLC but the frame rate was too slow. Is there some way to turn the subtitles on like you can in VLC?

If you mean MV2Player there's no reason it shouldn't work.. Drag and drop the video file into the player, then right click the screen, and add subtitle file.
