sylar says:
The site will be going down later today to be moved over to the new server, and heavily optimized. We expect to be going back online within 1 or 2 days. This may sound like a lot, but it should allow us to increase the user limit to well over 20 000 users. And make the site more usable for you. Many features requested in the suggestion forum will be implemented, and other work will be done as well.

Thanks for your understanding.

this will be good for all. 20k users :D

What.cd's off to a really lousy start, lots of slowness/downtime.

EDIT by What: Ignore that, we can optimize this thing while you're still using it (so long as you don't mind some errors every now and then). It's better to have a partially broken site than no site at all. We've switched database servers already, and we'll be switching the HTTP server soon.

When pages randomly stop working, you'll know why - because we didn't take the site down for two days while optimizing it. So don't complain, be pleased.

In the meantime, we're kicking the user limit up to 10,000 - just because we love you.

btw now is user limit 11,000:P

what.cd is a good site, just needs more speed - hopefully the new server will sort things out.
