http://torrentfreak.com/images/demonoid.jpg"Demonoid.com, one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers, was forced to go offline again because the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) threatened their ISP."

Highlights:

“The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.”

“Site is down, tracker is up. Expect the site to return, unless we hear otherwise from Deimos.”

Yep it's a very complete tracker even for rare files, you could find them on there,
so sad but they were more public than private for me, how many people had an account there, Plenty i guess...

Demonoid should have gone private instead public. It's getting too much attention from CRIA & etc.

wouldn't Romania be a good choice? or perhaps a Chinese server.

It really doesn't matter where they host. People/organizations with obscene sums of money tend to get what they want, and demonoid seems to be exhausting it's pool of available hosts. This can only go on for so long.

Demand rules; some countries will always allow you to host your website........

Yeah because private trackers like OiNk get no attention at all.

Truth is, the greater threat from public sites such as Demonoid is the only tangible line of defense that protects your precious private sites from further scrutiny and attack.

as i mentioned if servers will be in russia noone will be able to touch them no matter what. russians dont care about threats, they are just ignoring.

I was still able to keep some of my torrents alive up until they reached their goal of uploading until Wednesday of last week. So I believe the trackers for some are still up.

if i where them , ill leave the domian for CRIA
and got a new one like demonoid.org ( if free for sign up ) and host in into
server in Russia , Sweden , China .....etc
because they will lose so much if they never return back
at least they can release their database to one of the most private trackers . as well as they can save it and make it growth :)

Eh... I can manage torrenting without demonoid. I'm just using my private trackers more often, lol.

demonoid was a source for files not on private trackers. It was the site where you could find almost anything regardless of age or obscurity. It wasn't fast, but when you needed something by god you could get it (eventually).

can't disagree with any of that.

i know of no other tracker quite like it, when it came to rarities.

Miss the rarity the site had. I could find anything on that site. Demonoid will be missed.
