A seedbox used purely for seeding is no better than a home PC left on overnight unless it's a VPS.

Buy a seedbox and start a website on it :P

Totally flawed argument. It's probably safe to asume that the majority of energy used in the powering of computer systems and data transfer comes from fossil fuels, with the only result being a series of '0's & '1's. Producing a physical product can at least make use of recycling systems, making a real difference to the environment as opposed to just the release of carbon dioxide.

The issue is a coin with many many sides.

Agreed.

There are many ways to argue causes of global warming. But it's pretty clear it's happening.

How is leaving a server running 24/7 using less energy than your PC?

You could always get a seedbox in iceland. 99.9% of the electricity generated from geothermal and hydro :P

You haven't seen my PC. Not only does my PC smoke, but it also crackles when I pour coffee on it...
