i'm using perfect disk, i used to use diskeeper 7. Any one have any suggestions for the best defragmenter is terms of speed and quality? doesn't have to be the 2 that i use.

i think all defragmenters defragment to the same quality - Diskeeper is apparently the fastest, but it scares me with its vicious hard drive scratching, Beastie style
i use Norton Utilities' Speed Disk - seems fine to me

With perfect disk you can do an offline defragment. The systemfiles wont be defragment wiht an ordinary defragapp.
So Perfectdisk got my vote.
You can also get http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware...agedefrag.shtml (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pagedefrag.shtml)
That does the same thing. Its for free
But I think what's best that the same app does the offlinedefrag.

Fastest = Diskeeper, but rubbish. Can't do half the job that Perfect Disk does.
Best = Perfect Disk v6.0, no contest. Defrags everything in one pass.

Could someone post a hash for the Norton defrag? Not the whole utilities program, just the defrag if possible.

Try VoptXP (if you use WinXP). It does my weekly defrag in 3-5 minutes.
Has a few other v.useful tools also.

I'm not sure what this proves, but Diskeeper is the only utility that PCPitstop will pass my diskhealth check with.
Both Norton Speed disk and PerfectDisk failed.
