My first was a case-computer where you could have taken it wherever you wanted. It was quite heavy and the keyboard was attached to it.

Then it broke, actually I broke it. :P I tried to fix some errors on the screen(computer technican at 14 :P ), without actually knowing what I was doing.
The screen was moveable up and down, so to hold the screen, I placed a glass full of water on the keyboard(how smart don't you think), I have no idea why I did it. To see any changes, I left the pc on while I was fixing the screen. I pushed some wires into the pc screen(how smart again  ) to somehow fix it.

The glass eventually fell over and the water, well, into the keyboard. Smoke was coming out of the computer and eventually filled up my room. :(
Then my dad came running into the room. He first tried to do something about the computer and then to kill me. I ran into the bathroom and stayed there for 2 hours untill the situation has calmed down. I still got beaten up and the computer landed into the rubbish bin.
Damn, if I had been alone, I could have burned down the whole house including myself.

Maybe I didn't wanted to do anything about the smoke 'cause I liked fire as hell.

That's the story of my first computer. Sadly we just had it for a month...

Mine was a Commodore Vic 20 which I swapped for a Spectrum 48k.
That was about 20 years ago.
And I'm still only 29. Ah, this thread takes me right back.

The first computer I got access to was at the local defence research division of the Airforce through a computer club at my highschool... it was during the late '70's. We had to program it with punchcards.. It took ages to do the simplest things and we had to wait 2 weeks to get the results... which were just ascii text on reams of perforated print-out sheets.

Well here you go.. just do a search for 'Prince of Persia' at Free Oldies.
It's an abandonware search site, so I don't think it breaks the board rules to post it here...
http://www.freeoldies.com/gfx/freeoldiesus.gif (http://www.freeoldies.com/)
They have P.o.P there - 2 versions of the original and P.o.P 2 as well.
Enjoy your trip down memory lane guys.

First home pc to come out under £100..You spent hrs on the thing typing in code to make ball bounce across the screen then when you hit enter you would always get an error of some description...Very similar to windows me actually

Would have posted earlier, but I was off playing P-o-P.

Mine was a 386-16MHz, but I had all the comps I needed at work before that.

my first computer was a spectrum 128k damn those tapes.
why after watching that horrible load screen for 30 mins for a simple game to load did it keep coming up with load errors.
still i learned basic programming on it so not all bad.

my first real pc was a 386 16mhz machine. i had to fork out £80 for another 2megs of ram so win 3.11 would work.

still wolfenstein 3d, doom, prince of persia and all my soccer manager games used to keep me entertained for hours.

Ahhh, The BBC :) It brings me back, i remember a game where you'd read just text and have to imagine where you were. These were the days of hi-end graphics I tell you! The first computer I really really played to death was the spectrum then I got an Amiga Commodor 1200, it was the most powerful out at the time and all my friends would come and play it. (most commonly monkey island or lemmings)

No, that's my own, decent computer.

WeeMouse's really is crap - it's a battle just keeping ti working at all!!!

specs:
VIA Cyrix II 800MHz
Some crappy Gigabyte micro-atx mobo (can't remember the type just now)
128MB PC100 SDRAM
ATA33, 40GB HD
Integrated Intel Graphics
Integrated Intel Sound
Minging bubbly case with 250 watt PSU and no room for expansion
4x CDRW/DVD combo drive with no buffer underrun protection
Epson Stylus C20 SX (now broken)

It also came bundled with Windows ME (I quickly sorted that!).

It's a complete nightmare - really unstable.

Mine was a Tandy. With the HD IN the keyboard lol. It worked on some weird operating system that wasn't quite DOS, neither Windows. It's broken now though. Tandy quit making computers two years after I got it.

What a coincidence.

My first one was a Vic 20 too, with tape recorder.
After that a 486 with a 400mb (wow!) HD and Win 3.14.
The 486 is canibalized now to have a back up HD for Skweeky's computer when reinstalling. :D

For old games: have a look at Home of the Underdogs (http://old.the-underdogs.org/), very nice site, I believe Prince of Persia is there too.

My first PC was a floor model TANDY Sensation II. 486CPU (no mmx) at at whopping speed of 60mHz (intel processor), a 2X CDROM, 210MB hard drive, 8MB RAM, 2,400k modem and a floppy drive. I paid $900.00 for it. VGA monitor and built-in mono speaker in the desktop unit (towers didn't exist then). Stereo speakers were extra. Windows 3.0 installed. Playing games like Wolfenstien was a true amazement then.

Radio Shack has a long history of selling computers. In 1977, it was the first retail chain to market its own line of personal computers, the TRS-80 Model I. It offered a full line of IBM-compatible clones in the mid-1980s, including one that stored the MS-DOS operating system on a chip rather than on disk. And it sold the very first IBM-compatible multimedia computer, putting a sound card and a CD-ROM drive in the $2,200 Tandy Sensation! in 1992.
