View Full Version : My Comp Restarts By Itself

I dunno what happens but im working In photoshop or something and suddely my Comp just restarts by itself like if I have pressed the RESET Button, that started after i installed WinXP pro i never had this Problem with Win98
I know its not Overheating īcuz i have 3 fans...
And the prob is that if im downloading something from Kazaa it ERASE
Everything that im downloading so if only 3 kb were missed from a movie ALL WOULD BE ERASED
HELP... :(

im no hardware expert but iv'e had the same problem with xp and graphic apps - it turned out to be a problem with a device driver, packard bell scanner - you can check by opening 'device manager', open each device and if you have any with a yellow exclamation mark over them, this could be your problem

Where is device manager?
I cant find it in Control Panel...

right click on 'my computer' icon - properties - hardware - device manager

I found one with the exclamation on it
I will uninstall it, i hope that is the prob!!

try right clicking first and 'disalbe' - just incase the device is important

go to start>right click on my computer>click the advanced tab>click settings under startup and recovery.

then uncheck the box saying "automatically restart" under system failure

this will stop the comp from restarting however, it may not solve the problem

p.s. when your computer has been restarting, do you get an error message along the lines of "windows has recovered from a serious error..."?
if so, click on the details section and look at what files were involved in the crash
