[COLOR=purple]US House of reps (democrats) want to pass a bill to make file sharing of copyrighted material a felony. msnbc news (http://www.msnbc.com/news/940397.asp?vts=71720031811) If you go to the bottom where it says tech tools there is a link that says bill aims to curb censorship, it will take you to The Register that has some interesting articles on how they want to take the FBI from fighting terrorists to patrolling the net to find p2p users.

This was posted with a link to the register article earlier by zapjb. Just remember Orin Hatch a Republican supported systems wiuth copyrighted files being hacked so this isn't bipartisan. ;)

That law will never be passed. Politicians do that all the time. "Introduce" preposterous bills like that to the house. Their only expressing their right to be heard and bring new ideas to the table., it doesnt mean the law will ever be passed.

Like what someone said before, the law will never be passed. But if it does, do they really think they can go after 200,000,000 people? There is even more file-swappers then that but that was a rough estimate I heard.

200 million is a bollocks figure
remember there is not a lot over 6 billion total population. a large number of those do not have access to electricity, never mind the internet.
also, a lot of the world is too young (or old) to use filesharing software.
a more real estimate would be 10 million
