Problem With Sof Console

How do I get the console on Soldier of Fortune to work? I want to put in some cheats but like I said I need the console. I'm using Windows XP if that helps any.

u need to change a line in the properties first right click the single player thing and do
properties> target > type soimething in ive 4gotten what it is, then when its entered

press the "`"button (the button usually next to 1. then the console will come down and then u can put everythign in
