My old laptop died. (coffee,beer)
Hard drive still working, put in an extarnal hardrive case thingy,
connect it,
it worked fine.
until i connected it to a buddies machine, then it would never show in explorer.
In the safely remove hardware thingy in taskbar (see image) every time i connect,
it changes the name of it.
Any advice?
Using vista business...
merci

I disabled UAC cause it was fecking annoying but that seemed to cause quite a few problems installing stuff. True story.

personally i think there is an issue with the original hard drive name...?
Vista can't handle it.
but since explorer can't see it anymore, i can no longer rename/ format it.

Did you use some kind of weird character? I just name mine Main and Media. They work brilliantly, btw.

In the old laptop i think i renamed it to "core",
I was amazed to simply put the hardisk in the external thing and it connected.
I thought i would have to format it, add a few lines etc.
Have you ever put your hard drive in an external thingy and it worked instantly?
