You'll be unconnectable if you don't open it. If you use public trackers, it'll slow you down a considerable amount.

and when you try to upload, you will be unconnectable, which means no one can connect to you :)

Effects both your UL and DL speed. Being unconnectable means you are only abled to connect to connectable peers.

ie. 5 connectable peers and 5 unconnectable peers.
Each of the connectable peers are able to connect to the 4 other connectable peers + 5 unconnectable = 9 total.
Each of the unconnectable peers are able to only connect to the 5 connectable peers = 5 total.
In result, both UL and DL speeds are effected.

Yes, opening ports GREATLY affect your UL/DL speed.

As for ports, I use something else but I've heard 40000-60000 are the best.

try a port like 23147 hema999 it may help, but perhaps it does not..

you don't open a port on a router.. "open" doesn't make any sense anyway

You might want to use a port between 49152 to 65535

Both upload and download. I have seen it lots of times

Well it doesnt affect it directly, but indirectly. Seeing as you will be able to communicate with a lower ammount of peers, which therefore leads to lower speeds.

But this does NOT equal that you will not be able to max out your connection with no port forwarding, anyone claiming so is full of BS! :-)

Hey guys ,

I really need to know the "Opening port" thing

does is affect on downloading speed ? , or only uploading ?

Opening ports dont have anything with speed up or down, it just mean that u are connectabe with the tracker and to users..but if u dont open ports u cant be connectable and u cant get full upload or download speed what u have..

You can easily obtain full down and upload speeds with no portforwarding, it will just be easier by being connectable (port forwarded), as there will be a higher number of peers to provide the speeds :-)
