View Full Version : How long does it take for your Vista to startup?
From dead to login screen?
I've tweaked the hell out of it, services, minimal startups, reg tweaks etc etc
and it still takes about a bloody minute & half.:frusty:
Any one experiencing this?
Shutdown on the other hand takes seconds.
(i got xp down to 30secs (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-guides-and-tutorials-65/t-software-speed-up-boot-and-start-up-time-xp-83795)...)

I have the same problem as you, over a minute, then once I log in it's at least another 30 seconds before it's fully finished starting up :idunno:

Didn't have time to read entire thread but I can say
Business Contact Manager which uses SQL server slowed my machine a great deal.
I used vista manager and disable the Group check thing and helped a tiny bit
SQL is my main culprit
HP Vista Ultimate 64 ..
BTW I installed a custom version of XP called BLACK XP and the startup time was the fastest I've ever seen and looked awesome ... latest version I've seen is 4.10 .. check it out I use it on my older laptop

There is a gap in the poll options between 1min. and 1.5min.
Mine boots to a fully functional desktop (sidebar loaded and HulaHoop of Death gone) in about 1:15 (average of three timed boots) but then again, I triple boot this PC- XP, Vista and Ubuntu- so there are a lot of bootloaders to get through.
I suspect that on a single OS install I'd be under 30 seconds to clear Vista.
XP and Vista are on a RAID0 array which probably helps some...
Hmm 30sec-1m..Its getting slower :/
