I had nothing but trouble when I had a VPS/VDS from ie.hosting.

It would just become unmanageable for long periods of time, then be workable for an hour two, then back to struggling to get anything out of it.

I'm sure there are better VPS/VDS than these out there?

Bad Blue Boy
11-27-2007, 11:03 PM
ok waht vps can you recommend to me for about 50-60 dollars

i keep hearing keyweb is a good place for VPS

ie.hosting are keyweb resellers.

Better off getting the smallest dedi server than a VPS/VDS, I have the 571 and am more than happy with it.

Bad Blue Boy
11-27-2007, 11:32 PM
what do you use sgtmajor .....if can anybody give me the link of keyweb

but when i look on the setup fee its not so cheap !!! and guy said to me taht if i am from europ everything should be fine

t0mmy
11-27-2007, 11:54 PM
yeah thats the only problem i have are the setup fees :( and to think the monthly fees were high enough :whistling

SgtMajor
11-27-2007, 11:56 PM
I think it is worth it in the end, I have had mine for over 6 months now and can't complain too much.

If you are in the for the long term, get a proper server, if you want to only try them out and do a little boosting here & there, get a VPS/VDS for a month or 2.

Or split the cost with a friend and get the dedi server, and then when the 3 months is up, use it for you only and the costs will be manageable then.

t0mmy
11-27-2007, 11:59 PM
so the minimum contract is 3 months payment upfront?

SgtMajor
11-28-2007, 12:06 AM
Some are 1 month.

Best is to choose what you fancy then follow the payment through (without going to the paypal site though) and see how much they want, including taxes! :D

Hope that I'm not hijacking this thread to much,SgtMajor how much more memory did you have put in.
And was it a flat fee.
I just got my 571 up and running and It is a little slow.
I still have my vps raptor3 and it is a lot faster.
Thanks

No - they charge for installing and a small monthly charge.

Go to support, go to upgrades, and ask for your upgrade options and costs, they will email you back with what you can add.

I doubled the mem, (512MB to 1GB) and it works 10 times better now.

Ive got the same VDS from Hosting-IE, i think its OK for the price.

But you cant download too fast from utorrent ull get "disk overflow" errors if speed is over 3 MBps for long enough. But i have noticed speeds easily reach 5-6 MBps DL with no problem through FTP.

Upload speed how ever is good for a VDS, u can get around 3-4 MBps if thr are enough peers. I know Thr network isnt the best but u cant get the Best for that price:P. I also have a Dedicated Box from US and this VDS beats the speeds of the Dedicated US box.

Keep in mind, its only a VDS and it can get VERY slow if thr are alot of transfers goin like 3-4 MBps Upload. That is y i just ordered thr Dedic Raptor Pro Lin 585 ;). You can also take a look at thr Dedic Raptor Pro Lin 571 if Setup cost isnt a problem thn Lin 571 would a better option rather the a VDS.

Also if your VDS goes down u can expect atleast 8-24 hours for them to restart the server.

O and they take ALot of time to setup the server, i got mine in almost 2 weeks :-|

EDIT: Yay just got my leasweb server setup, lets see how that compares to Hosting-ie :P

i have raptor 6 and get 70mbit down and up , maxes my line on one ftp session on 10mb.
had this sever for 18 months np's at all .
If you want better customer service you pay for management , we don't as it very easy to manage yourself .

B3hAnch00d

hmm 70 mbit...ive only seen that speed on a good day while uploading to someone on the same DC. But Average is bout 40 mbit, still its good enuff for what u have to pay :)

Stay very far from hosting-ie VPS. I presently have 1 and basically i dont use it because I can't bear to use it.

The resources on the server are almost always maxed, no memory available when nothing is even running and my server suppose to have 1 GB and support sucks, when I write to ask them what is up with the useless server they just telling me I should upgrade to dedi and I shouldn't expect better from a VPS.

seanbee

i can rent you mine ? which is dedicated unlimited bandwith too

Was this directed to me? If so then I don't need one cause I have two others

you say support sucks but i bet you have level one support which is free .
Or unmanaged which means you do everything yourself .

Yes I do, but does that mean that support should suck? I don't expect first class service but none the less I am a customer and should at least be treated like one.

I have tried and have several other VPS packages and I must say that by far hosting-ie is the worst I have tried (both in regards to the service and the product itself).

TechnoMan80

Yes I do, but does that mean that support should suck?Well m8 :) or you have support or you don't , if you are on unmanaged one I still didn't got it what support are you expect there? :)) some free specially for you :) sure it will suck for you if you haven't got one :)

But I'll be honest I haven't got any as well but they answer all my requests without any problems, it looks you've done some thing wrong ? :)
they even installed some packages for free :)

I had VDS before and was happy enough but it wasn't good enough for me so I've got dedic now 572 with the promotion on setup. Still more than happy m8, for that price I've got P5 D 2x3.0 GHZ when it was advertised just 2x2,66 :)) how can I say any bad....
Just need to be cleave m8, when vds is not enough go to some higher, I don't know any other network who allows that speed for that price and that much bandwidth.

0ctane

The promotion where they wave the setup fee ;) .
They used to have a ebay shop dunno if they still do , but if you buy a server dedi server from them via ebay they would make the setup fee free instead of paying .

TechnoMan80
11-30-2007, 07:16 PM
What promotion on setup?
http://hosting-ie.com/content/view/15/48/
Dedic Raptor Pro Lin 572
for last 2 weeks setup was just for 50 Euro for month to month payment,

I paid for 3 month and setup was just 30 euro :)
For 30 euro setup I've got P5 D 2x3.0GHZ 2x2MB Cash :)

Now it looks they sold them out with that promotions as the page shows.

seanbee

How are the speeds on the dedi, cause speeds on the VPS for me sucked

TechnoMan80
11-30-2007, 07:25 PM
VDS is shared m8, between how ever vds's are there, dedic has 100mbit,
I'm getting about 3-4MB right now some times goes over 5 but it is not safe to keep that high for ever ;) but most important for me is that server don't lags. dedic is still dedic ;)

seanbee
11-30-2007, 07:27 PM
I know that it is shared but none-the-less I never got over 1mb/s.

I am presently on layertech dedi and getting 9mb/s down currently from SCT with 3mb/s up

TechnoMan80
11-30-2007, 07:32 PM
yeah and how much you pay :)) and what hardware you have, and how much traffic limit ;)

If you are looking for some else it shouldn't be that good isn't :)))

P.S. ask to support on hosting-ie.com

they do offer 1 GB Card + switch upgrade for nearly 100 euro and 3 TB limit if you are looking for speed .

Well actually I am paying less than I was paying for hosting-ie VPS :whistling . The only real benefit that hosting-ie had was unlimited bandwidth, and I don't know about you but I don't need more than 2GB per month, I am not trying to seed to the entire internet population :naughty:

Did it ever cross your mind that I could have had the VPS from hosting-ie before I got layered tech?

I signed up for hosting-ie paying approximately 44 euro and found that it sucked ass, a week later I signed up for layeredtech paying about 49USD. Hosting-ie was cancelled today but if their dedi products offer similar speeds (I dont expect them to be as good as layered tech) to what I am getting from layered tech then I would consider trying them out once more.

yes dedic ones are good, well probably it depends what server you will take but what ever you will go for try to have 1GB RAM, specially if you go for Windows box

the hosting-ie vps's are hit or miss. I've had mine for 8 months and have had no problems. I get good bursts of 5-8MB on those Sunday night TV seeding sessions :) with no disk overload errors in utorrent. But a friend got a vps from them and had many problems. Only kept it for 1 month and then moved to fasthosts. For me though the £15/month suits me very well and i'd have no problems upgrading to a dedi box from them if i needed. The fact there is no contract, you can always take a punt on them and if you don't like it you just don't pay the next month and cancel.
