Hi Guys

I was wondering what price Itunes etc, should charge per song.

At the moment I believe it is $US 1.00 per song and people still download.

What price would songs have to be that would encourage you to stop downloading on p2p's and torrents etc. 50 cents ? 10 cents ?

Regards

Cheap, real cheap. A nickel, maybe?

I'd definitely pay if they charged $0.01 and it was DRM free.

I'd honestly do 1.00 if it was DRM free and at a higher bitrate than the itunes+ music is currently at.

It is impossible to compete with free.

The entire scheme of music delivery needs to be redeveloped so that there is no direct cost to the downloader. Otherwise, piracy will aways dominate the market.

I will not pay to download, ever.

Nothing, at least not with DRM and low bitrates.

I wouldn't mind paying about $0.10 a song. But that would only be without DRM and a lot higher bitrate. Heck I wouldn't mind paying like $15 a month if I got to download what ever I wanted. I believe a monthly charge would be the best for me since I would tend to download a lot every month. And give me at least 192kbs for bitrate, the Oink standard.

And the question is, are people willing to give money again to those companies that compared them to 'real' criminals before?

Perhaps the record companies should concentrate on quality rather than quantity, considering most of the illegally downloaded music is poor in artistical quality (Britney Spears for one :whistling). I for one support the artist, if I appreciate him/her and those are mostly Indie/Underground/little-known ones.

Great topic btw.
