It's not really because of the writers strike, they did this last year as well. It goes away for a couple of months then comes back. I forget exactly why they do this, maybe to give shows like 24 & Sarah Conner chronicles more hype/attention.

ABC also does this with Lost
NBC does it with Heroes as well.

Partially because of the strike and also to give them to to finish up new eposides not yet aired, etc.
