"Sad day over at Gamespot as Jeff Gerstmann, executive editor at the CNET-owned website, has been laid off on the count of issuing a rather negative review of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. Eidos of course has an ad contract with the renowned video games publication – the website's current Kane & Lynch: Dead Men skin. Need more pointers to make the connections?"

In case you do, head over to the link below for full details and the picture link is the miniature comic strip.

i commend him for being honest with his review even though there was potential for something like this, kind of makes you wonder if other review sites are biased in a similar fashion or not.

Nor the fact that it shows they do bullshit reviews.

So any Eidos game that comes out (shit, or not), is going to get a positive review and a high score? :dabs:

well it's the first time i see an editor getting fired for an accurate review, on the other hand some very good games have been low kicked by bad reviews and no one got fired..
even better, is the fact that all of the above have only one thing in common: gamespot
a truly corporate-ad-shit

edit: why the f*** do people still go over gamespot? if you make a java game and you pay enough they can give it a 9.0 in the ps3 section
just leave it, it's only an ad place, nothing more

Wow that sucks. I guess with a game with a user rating of 2.6 on gamespot it really sounds like something I would really want to play. Well I won't look at thoes bloated rating ever again.

That's bullshit. Fuck Eidos. I'm not going to buy any of their games now know that I know that reviewers have to rate their games highly. I buy all my console games, too.

Eidos has been on my "don't buy" list for quite some time now. Ever since I bought the game "SnowBlind" and it wouldn't run more than a few minutes without crashing. I contacted them about why there were no patches out and their answer was to pass the buck onto the group they contracted to program the game. As far as I'm concerned, that was the wrong answer, they contracted them therefore it was their responsibilty to contract them to patch the darn thing. After all who stood to make the most money from sales?

I swore I would never buy another Eidos game, I have to admit I have had newer Eidos games on my PC than "SnowBlind", but I didn't pay for them. Treat me right and I give you money, treat me wrong and you get the shaft.

It's all BS. I guarantee you if gamespot didn't have an ad contract endorsed by Eidos, that dude would still have his job. Bunch of corporate bs as usual.

I use to post in their forums and I occasionally visit some of the sections...I've seen some people cancel their subscriptions in protest and others are just saying that they'll never post here again.

A bad rep is bad for business. Especially a news-like agency...now the game reviews are rigged?

I'm afraid so. It's a sad sad time for america. The people have no money, no rights, and now no voice. Forget an opinion...

No money maybe but no rights or a voice? This is America after all. Although our country is in a recession and Michigan happens to be the worst state to live in right now, go figure.

i stopped reading gaming reviews to see if i would buy the game a long time ago. i only read them to see what it's about now. if i do read reviews for a possible purchase it's the readers reviews i read for that. for WE aren't nearly as biased as the guys who get paid for it are and even then i've been into games long enough to know if i wanna buy it or not anywho.

as said above... he'll get a new job soon.
