How NOT to recover data. (http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&taxonomyName=storage&articleId=9051298&taxonomyId=19&intsrc=kc_top)

One woman called to complain that she had "washed all her data away." Her USB stick had been through a cycle in her washing machine and -- surprise! -- she couldn't retrieve any data from it.

I did this exact same thing. In fact, wifey found the USB after the wash had completed (I don't think it went though the dryer).

The stick works just fine to this day and still had the data on it.

It was a 2GB Sandisk USB Cruzer.

Yeah, my Corsair Voyager has been through the was at least twice with no ill effects.
Maybe she has a commercial washing machine.

Some USB drives have no problems going through washing machines.

A man in Thailand took the cover of his hard drive off and sprayed the interior with insect repellent

I guess he had problems with a computer bug? haha

You really must try harder than that.
