D3LBOY, your situation is just like me, I choose hosting-ie VPS, and since I'm kinda new in VPS, I choose Win 2003 as the OS, but in the future I'm planning to change the OS to Linux and then install the GUI using this steps : http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=589702
try keyweb
hosting ie is a reseller of keyweb so no use of it :P

I'd like to know where this came from also because if thats the case I wish they would have sent out like an email or something to address the problem

Maybe it was just me, but I had a terrible time with them. No lie it took at least 16 days for them to setup my box and when they did the passwords and such they made for me didn't even work correctly, it really was just a huge hassle.

yeah it looks you are short of news m8:)) they ask 3 month in advanced from foreign clients, Plus if they cache you on some content your 3 months payment will get lost as never been in your pocket :))))

I got my first seedbox about 2 weeks ago, starting with vectoral. It took about 5-6 days to get setup. Their hardware is not all that great for the price. Tech support is OK and thats about all. Wasted that 49$ b/c I could not get up speeds any higher than 1mB sec... Leaseweb is the way to go. The price is the best for the server setup... or at least I think. Tech support is great, and setup time was less than 24hrs. Good, fast, up to date hardware at leaseweb.

Simple = linux is free while windows licence is around 20$ per month. Also i hear linux is less of a system hog

ahhh the hosting companies charge more for windows -- that makes sense. On the on the subject of windows being a system hog -- well you cannot turn off the gui (easily), but if you turn off un-needed services you can squeeze some more performance out of it.

Windows Server 2003 Web Edn is free at ie.hosting :)
But you need 1GB mem at least obviously, and just running utorrent alone is not mem hogging.

I've ordered a server from Zaxihosting (http://sales.zaxihosting.com/aff.php?aff=028), will see how it goes. It is cheap at $36 for a dedicated server with 2TB of bandwidth.

depends on what kind of server, if it's vps only 10 Euros, if it's a dedicated, maybe around 70 Euros

They are a reseller of burst.net like ihostvps, so you probably know more about the speed than me :). The big concern is how tolerant they are of bittorrent usage, which I hope won't be an issue with metered bandwidth. The data center is in Pennsylvania, USA so it's good for me with ftp transfers, but I guess seeding won't be as good as a seedbox from Europe.

Actually there are quite big differeces between VPS and dedicated, besides the virtual machines shares resources with others, the line itself is shared between the VM and also with other physical servers.
I rent one of hosting-ie VPS atm, the download speed is very good, almost 12MB/s all the time, but the average up speed is between 500KB/s - 1.5MB/s, the maximum up speed I could get up to 6MB/s

Dedic box has own 100mbit port with 100mbit connection which is shared just in the network
VDs boxes are sharing that connection of master server ,
On some boxed 3 VDS per master on others 5 VDS
SO dedic box from hosting-ie must have more or less about 2 - 2,5 times better connection at lit than VDS Server. couse Master servers of hosting-ie has 2x100mbit not just 100mbit

This might seem like a silly question, but is it okay to use your own information when getting a seedbox? That is, will there be any ramifications if I get kicked for torrenting by the server provider?

It should be ok to use your real identity. A good amount of seedbox hosting is found in countries where copyright laws are lax. You could always use fake info and pay with paypal though.

Oh maaan, they answer the question on their site (FAQ):
Question: What's the difference between a dedicated server and a seedbox for one person?
Answer: Having a dedicated server you are the administrator of it, so you can install whatever you wish but you have to do it on your own. A seedbox is a server ready to use with FTP, uTorrent webui and VNC installed.

Seedhost is trusted. I am with them at the moment. They are expensive, but worth it. Download speeds are at least 11mb/s (may have problems with disk overloading but easily fixed) and upload from 1mb/s up to 10mb/s easily. Depends on if another person has an ovh box, then you are getting at least 5mb/s, maybe up to 10mb/s. You also get a lot of hdd space when compared to other providers.

In one post you said, they offer IRC-Support, but i can't find any irc-channel on their site?! pls send link
Why seedhost is located in GERMANY?
AND: Why they don't have any license or whatever-agreements (internet-law etc, even pirate-sites have it)? Perhaps because they don't offer anything, just scamm???
PLS DON'T MISUNDERSTAND, I JUST WANT ANSWERS, BECAUSE IAM REALLY INTERESTED, REALLY! PERHAPS I WILL ORDER THE NEXT TIME IF YOU CONVINE ME

If you read that (http://seedhost.eu/seedbox), you see that "normally" you get a root access to the seedbox. The FAQ is saying the contrary.
So, where's the truth? :pinch:
By the way, if I was paying €45 a month for a Kimsufi, I would like to get the full access to the server. Even if you're a newbie, it's not that hard to follow the guides posted on this board.

This company uses OVH's Servers, so... The "seedboxes" from seedhost are ovh-serversm BUT the guy from seedhost reconfigures them, so seedhost.eu means:
- you need more money, but less knowledge
ovh means:
- you need less money, but more knowledge AND you're on the safe side, because they're trusted 100% from many users as on of the best provider... but we don't have much info about SEEDHOST.EU

I got a dedicated server from seedhost.eu and received the server the next day. I screwed up with the firewall and locked myself out; emailed him and shortly thereafter the OS was reinstalled and I was ready to go. I have root access of course.
He's 25 euro more expensive then OVH France but he lives in another European country (not Germany) where OVH is more expensive. I believe after VAT and credit card fees he makes about 10 euro/month.
As for speed: In the few days I've had the box I've downloaded at 8MB/sec and uploaded at 10MB/sec.
