They released some usernames of those being pursued in court by the riaa. I'm sure it's meant to scare the heck out of us. lol

Check it out (http://www.techtv.com/news/culture/story/0,24195,3484600,00.html)

Oh damn, isn't this ALL of us > www.k_lite.tk_Kazaa_Lite@Kazaa.

Do they have enough paper, legal aid lawyers, and a large enough courtroom, ?

:P

yeah, I noticed as soon as I finished. Don't fret about 'em. Now that they're going after a larger list of people, the legal loopholes will be exploited. No worries mate. ;)

LMAO

That was my thought exactly. I'm sure they only put that one in there to panic all the k-lite users, since it is our default, we've all used it at one time or another. Those tricky little devils heheh

edit: I've lost all typing skills

And their idiots to because all K-lite default usernames arnt the same mine for example is a little different maybe k-lite should make a random name changer or something it'll piss them off even more lol.

Now that's an excellent idea! Post it in the developer forum and see what people there think. I imagine it can't be too difficult to generate random names. Or lose them all together?

That wouldn't really matter, since they just see if you are sharing copyrighted stuff, and then log your ip addy. Then they contact your isp and get your Real name and such. So you could change your username all you want, but they'd still know who you are and what it was at the time. They just released part of the user name list to make it seem more real to people and scare them a bit. I find that method terribly inneffective B) :D

Like it or not, this IS a problem.
People will be scared shitless because of it, and stop sharing.

I just installed the new 2.41 today, and that's no longer the default username.
Sorry RIAA people, you're just too late. ;)

I take it you've never been through a lengthy legal battle. The more confusing you can make the case, the less chance the accuser has of success. Judges are people too and when they see the inaccuracy of these lists and the information presented to them along with a total lack of physical evidence (they don't have your hard drive do they?) or even good digital evidence(No DNA on data), they are gonna toss the majority of these suits out on their asses.

We have members on this forum who share thousands of files, guys who we (the members) know their real names of, their IP's, the places they live.
Why do we never hear they get "caught"?

I think chances they'll catch you are slim to non, even if you live in the US or Denmark.

I couldn't agree more. And a reason I said changing our user names wouldn't matter, besides the logic involved, is that I HAVE been involved in lengthy legal processes before. I even beat a few.

You're all forgetting one important thing.
These lawsuits will be held in the US of A.
Where people are guilty until proven innocent.

Where someone like Johnny Cochran will find a loophole and get everyone off! :D Well.... maybe not. Damn republican courts probably think it's worse than having sex on Sundays or something.

I hate to tell you, but there are far more democrats against P2Ps then republicans. Most courts are liberal anyway. <_<

No sh*t? I figured the conservative courts would be more against it. Well, damn us liberals then.
