Rise of the Videogame (Discovery TV series)

rise of the videogame is a new series that pretty much tells the history of the videogames we play.

episode 1 = the start of videogames with pong then atari

episode 2 = nintendo of america & sega with a hint of sony playstation

episode 3 = flight simulation with the overpowering rise of the first person shooter

pretty decent series and if u didn't grow up with episode 1 (i grew up with pong. shhh) u'll learn who made what and how videogames became.

episode 4 aired 2nite, but have yet to watch.

I've seen the series. It's very interesting to see the history of video games from the very beginnings to what we have now. Really informative in the perspective of corporations and technology advances that have made possible the current amazing games, and of course, future tendencies.

Now i really need to check this series out. First game i ever owned was pong for Atari 2600 while my cousin had the Atari 7800 Jungle Hunt and Food Fight.

That is such a classic game I use to spend my lunch money on Donkey Kong and Tempest back in the arcade days and now a proud owner of my own DK cabinet. :)

WoW ftw! they also discuss if videogames are gonna take over the world. maybe not videogames, but the virtual world. i believe it will, but that's my opinion.

awesome! thanks! forgot this even came out. just finished watching this and it was GREAT! brings back a lot of happy memories of when arcades existed and i frequented them. now, sadly, arcades are VERY scarce. Dave & Busters FTW!!! all i can say is that billy mitchell is a prick.
