You cannot download binaries using thunderbird, you can only read text articles.

do you know any programs you can download from newsgroups im on aol but aol says you cant download from newsgroups with them but i was told there is way to download from newsgroups with aol

That is incorrect. AOL does not offer any free news services.

You can download newsgroups, but you'll need to pay a third-party such as Giganews (http://www.giganews.com/?a=fst) for access.

Yea, AOL dumped their Usenet service a few years ago.

*loL* aoL was the first usenet provider i had access too. *haha* i remember them days.

Just fork up the few dollars a month for premium service - it's worth it!!!
