Something like Easynews, where I log into their website and can search and download from there. No need for a usenet client. I'm looking for at least 60 days of retention.

Easynews is the only service i've seen that has this available. Most people are content with news clients as their access program. Webinterface is normally reserved for n00b's - that's why a lot of the providers gave up on the http interface option.

I found the web interface great to bypass works proxy / security on their network... so it can be handy in certain situations

If you're interested in porn only, use skinvideo. It has a purely web interface.

I use GrabIt and Giganews. I just want something where I can see all and download any files in a newsgroup (as old as my retention upto the newest) without having to do full and incremental updates. Is that possible?

No need to download headers. Another worthy option is..

http://beta.binaries.nl/

Not really sure what your problem is. Easynews is the only provider I know where you can download directly from the web interface. The above links will allow you to browse the newsgroups and create an NZB. Which you can then download with Grabit.

Easynews and the web interface is what keeps me coming back. I have been with Easynews since 2002. I have about 360 gigs banked.

I'm sort of a noob, so I may not explain everything right. The problem is having to do full/incremental updates (headers?) to see all the articles in a newsgroup. Since Giganews retention is so good and my favorite groups are huge, it's not possible or takes forever to see all/latest articles.

But I think I found what i'm looking for (2nd link). I'll have to wait until after Christmas to make sure. Thanks.

Easynews would be perfect if they had good retention and block accounts. I still have 100 gigs that I paid for and probably will never use :(

If your problem with the amount of headers in your favorite groups with Giganews is the time required to fetch all of them, the Giganews Accelerator should fix that.

That's why a majority of providers allow you to connect via port 80 onto their servers, so that if you are behind a proxy that limits you to only that port, you will still be able to have access.

Now, if you are using a proxy that uses a random port, then disregard - the web interface is the better option. :shifty:

for whatever its worth, i recently signed up for easynews and i've been disappointed. i'm still getting used to it, but i was hoping for a substitute for oink and the music selection just isn't there. about 50% of what i hunt for is missing and the interface is clumsy at best.
