Is FTN the only tracker that has a script like that? Are there any other torrent sites that has one that works like that? Im just curious to see if FTN is the only who has something like that.

ScT has a notifier but its kinda outdated at the momment aswell. Any way to get sct/bitmetv/other torrent sites having a popup come up if you're in the IRC channel using a program or?

It is an awsome script :P

It gives a huge edge over other trackers just because of it..

yes other trackers have scripts but every script is quite different from the other.

if you want to do it then code it yourself. mirc has such an easy lang that coding something far better could be done in under a day.

It's even easier if you have the FTN code :D

no not really. modifying the ftn script would be slower then writing one from scratch imho, but everyone is different.

er let me clarify. i meant writing a different mirc script that doesn't do the same thing but does more. aka like rss where it auto downloads instead of notifying you.

So its almost like a RSS reader. Seems like the same functionality except that it announces in irc

Its a msn popup, every new torrent that gets added and you get a popup

I'd love it for other trackers to have there script

Hi Celtic :)

rss is set to a delay of 5 mins to 15 mins depending on the client setup and imho anything below 5 mins is abuse. IRC is to the second. Imagine finishing your download before all of the rss people even start downloading. You know how much upload you get from that? It makes it sooo easy to get a good ratio.

ah i see, so its almost instantaneous as opposed to the delay in rss downloader. So why not configure the rss downloader every 30 sec or so. I suppose that would hammer the tracker with so many requests.

is all of that code just for the torrent updater? seems like a lot ;)

programming windows and 'gui' stuff aka display stuff always takes a lot of lines. my script for all of the bt sites i'm on to auto download what i want is under 30 lines.

So why not share it with the rest of us? You can just remove your info from the script. Not everyone enjoys programming.

Anyone get the ScT to work?

DanielleD87
12-21-2007, 06:44 PM
sense it is 100% manual. i add and remove code every time I find something I want to download that is new, and it is manually set to each bt site I'm on. If someone downloads it they would not know what to do.

If I shared it I would have to write a .txt that explains how to use it which realistically would be teaching the mirc lang and tokens. If not I could write a gui where you type in the info and it does it for you, but you know how much work that would be? I'd end up with hundreds of lines of code. I'm to lazy to do something like that for no benefit.

Thats pretty :/ ripping off someone script. I hope you leave the credit to where its due, cos i remember reading that thread, and that guy put a decent amount of time into making it. All the same making a crude one wouldn't take that long.
