but im worried about

I tried this on a Leaseweb Express server but it doesn't work.
Yeah, leaseweb servers doesn't have SFTP. The installation process is a bit more complicated. First, you need to add a repository (like RPMForge (http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/RPMForge)) which contains: xterm, wine, vnc-server and etc. You also need to install fonts (msttcorefonts) and you'd need to install WebUI by using wget and unrar (not built-in you need to install this as well). You might also want to install an FTP server (proftpd), you would also need to configure it after it's installed.

utorrent is a windows program. try using a linux program like rtorrent.

using wine to launch utorrent will consume lots of resources, first wine must create a similar environment like Windows, then interpret utorrent binary then bring that to linux own binary, after your utorrent's running, there will be more because the torrent process require much much resources, unless you have like 1GB min of RAM your system will run like a snail :)

well, azureus is well known of resources eater :) I really don't think many ppl use it on their seedbox unless they really have a good server spec

He wants utorrent so surely some of you linux guru's can sort him out.

Mate send a support ticket to leaseweb and ask them to install xterm wine vnc-server for you as there is nothing illegal with them programs.

I've never used leaseweb so i can't really help u and I use fedora all the time too...


So ur saying that if u log in via putty and type yum -y install xterm wine vnc-server they won't install?

Give rtorrent a shot. I setup a 10mbit seedbox earlier today with glftpd and rtorrent. Took about 20mins on a unbuntu minimal install.

I believe you can even get a webui for rtorrent, but ive never bothered. It is simple to control it just by creating watched directories and the required seeding for each torrent.

Best $6 I spent so far.
