despite the large variety of HDrips available today which are essentially the same size as that of DVDs, why are DVDs still so popular? which one do you prefer downloading? We are talking about movies only!
HD :
1) much better quality for same filesize
2) need hdtv, no use playing on pc. not compatible with standard dvd players
DVD :
1) can be played on standard dvd players
2) larger selection
3) menus
thats my analysis of it. so where would you invest your 4 GB of download?

hd
2. You can play on pc! need to have good monitor (1280x720 duh) and good video card
3. Selection is catching up
4. FULL SCREEN HIGH QUALITY
5. Just use component out on your computer to connect to hdtv

I prefer to download DVD Iso, But only because my monitor is not good.

The HDrips have the best quality of course.

I just started downloading HDRips because I plan to start burning my video files to DVD's to leave my HD space open for my music which I access everyday; where as my video is more like just having a huge libary.

H264 (BluRay and HD-DVD rips) is the way to go with any decent monitor and graphic card. An year or two from now...DVD will be like VHS. So get used it now :P

Why put this in Bittorrent section?

HD would be nice if I had a HDTV and a HD/Bluray player. Anyway. I mostly watch DVD's.

I am all about HD. Its far better quality then standard dvd and around the same size

Thats why I bought 30' Monitor to enjoy those HD movies

Afetr watching hd its hard to go back to dvd's.

To watch HD movies it needs good pc with good processor and if you have good graphics card it always better

On 19' crt you can watch 720p movies if you get 1280 resolution but I dont know if 1080 movies will work

I prefer to download HDRip

of course it's better to have widescreen lcd, the Apple Cinema Display 30" can support 1080p resolution

HD rip of course! Those who prefer DVD ISO over HD Rips are noobs and had never watched a HD rip. I've watched both so I know what I'm talking about. Who don't want to watch a movie in better quality? Simple as that. :)

yup, same here.
I remember having a dvd of Red Dragon and a hdrip of it (1080i), damn, it was almost the same size (4,xGB) but the hd version lookd sooo much better.
ppl that like dvd's more or either having a low-end old pc with slow cpu or they own a home cinema with a dvd player etc. and are used to dvd format only.

I'd rather not sit in my room by myself watching movies on my computer when I could have company over and watch it on my 60" in the living room. So dvd-iso for me.
