you should probably skim the articles in fst's news section. There are a bunch of articles about lawsuits and new laws and musicians supporting us :)
it's going nowhere, though, if you ask me.

The biggest disgrace was the shutdown of Scenenetwork with the publishing of the 'list' of ip's and email info of people the sysop didn't like, I still think Agent47 is a complete arse who shouldn't be allowed in the bit torrent community.

i remember that, the owner ran off with the donations the 1st month it was open

Supernova.
Elitetorrents
Oink
Demonoid

they were huge and public.
only suprnova was public outta those.

suprnova was by far the biggest "incident"
it was the 1st real torrent tracker, there were a few small ones before it, but suprnova was the start of mainstream torrenting. it wasnt so much as closed down, but the owner was offered an amnesty if he shut the site down, he was promised he wouldnt be prosecuted. the site had attracted so much heat that he took the offer

The loki torrents debacle which was a site collecting money($30,000) supposedly to fight the MPAA because they had gotten a shutdown notice and then after collecting all the cash just shutting down without putting up any kind of fight but keeping the money.

Yep, this was a really punch in the stomach for the bittorrent community... So many people donated money, hoping that a big trial will stop the MPAA and Webber (LokiTorrent.com onwer) just took of with the money... I think many people realized then, that donations do not always go where they are supposed to. :(

Elitetorrents being shut down had the biggest impact on me (even more than demonoid, oink, suprnova).

Shutting down Demonoid was a bigger shocker for me. I still hope Deimos will put the site up again.
