Hi,
Done the torrent thing, doing the newsgroup thing, just got prompted to do the DC++ thing.
What should I worry about with DC++ and security issues?
I am connected privately to one person and sharing... is that safe?
What are public hubs and how safe are they?
Can people only see the files I put in the share folder and hash? Can people send me unwanted files?
Is there a data base of hubs based on content?
Should I stick with NG's?
Is there something better?
Cheers!

Its very safe

You are connected to the hub you are in and to all the users that r in that hub...it is quite safe.
What are public hubs and how safe are they?
Hub is hosted on a server and it can have 10-10,000 users at a given time. They r very safe
Can people only see the files I put in the share folder and hash? Can people send me unwanted files?
Yes they can view all the files that u have put up for sharing and No they cannot send u anything unless you download it off them.
Is there a data base of hubs based on content?
Hubs mostly have little bit of everything....from movies, music, ebooks, videos, porn, etc.
Should I stick with NG's?
NG's??
Is there something better?
DC++ is probably the best and safest prog when it comes to p2p sharing. Much safer then Kazaa,Limewire,Morpheus, etc.
Hopefully this helps.....if u have any more questions feel free to PM me. I'll gladly help :)
good day

Just a quick question, how fast is DC++ usually? Do people hop on with huge 100mb lines, or are you dealing with people who have 512 split between 2 users?

^^ well that depends on the user ur downloading files off. Some have 10+mbit lines and your the only person downloading off them so u get the best dl speed and some r real poor....if u want good speeds I suggest u check out BatMax hubs

Is there a way to make only certain folders visible to certain hubs, without removing them from your share folder?
Say I want hub 1 to see only folder A and hub 2 to see only folder B, but want to be connected to both at the same time?
Cheers!
