azureus is better...

http://azsmrc.sourceforge.net/Readme.txt

from the server start it in a "screen" using the command:
java -jar Azureus3.0.4.2.jar --ui=console

(which version of centos? if 4.6 you need to use a more recent java version)

or eventually use bittornado with launchmanycurses.... torrentflux is crap...

azureus in console... wow that's new to me :P
anyone has a review about this ?
I'm using rtorrent and until now have few difficults, like when I enter the torrent file name, the download just begins automatically, I didn't have a chance to set the folder or choose to partially download

@ predateur, I wrote the tutorial how to install rtorrent here : http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/p-ihostvpscom-and-vps-help--post2554437/postcount5, hope it'll help you a lot

it's better you use rtorrent on CentOS, it's native binary, utorrent running on Wine which that works as the emulator, so it'll consume more resources, you can see my speed in ihostvps when I use rtorrent :

I think it's down to the specs of ur server really and provider.

I use utorrent all the time and with certain providers I hit rocket speeds and with others speeds aint that great.

How u mean " no text on utorrent" ?

and how's the performance and features compared to rtorrent ?

never used rtorrent...

i was using bittornad before (and still using it from time to time)

cpu usage is lower, hard disk access are handled better.... memory usage is impressivly higher... but that's a "feature" of azureus :shifty:

rTorrent is very stable, the first time maybie looks difficult but is easy to use... the only bad thing, is that in some trackers is banned, like revott, bitme,bitmetv...

Good Luck.

really, but I'm using rtorrent now on bitme and revtt, haven't tried on bitmetv

yes, rtorrent is great, but Luchohhh, I have one question, why does everytime I add the torrent file, the download start automatically, how do I make it not, so I can do a partial download or choose the destination folder.

thanks a lot

Here's a quick tutorial for installing Torrentflux on Ubuntu, there will be a few differences but it shouldn't be too hard.

http://jonpeck.blogspot.com/2006/11/how-to-configure-80-fileserver-in-45.html

I've moved on from using torrentflux to torrentflux-b4rt as it is being more actively developed and has support for more download types (wget and nzb).

Hey man, did u get the "text" thing sorted?

Ironically I got that too.

I usually use fedora as my OS but today when ordering my server I went for Centos and after updating and installing everything I havn't got any txt either on my utorrent, all I have is the interface.

As I'm used to setting up Utorrent webgui's I was able to setup the options "blindly" with no probs.

But just wondering if u sussed what the problem is ?

My guess is that it's the server processor is proob not starong enough. I usually use 2.4ghz but the server I'm using now is 1.6ghz.

I'm up and running but just wondering if u got it sorted or set it up blindly like me.

yes i got it sorted , you have to add the missing font on the wine fonts directory , the font name : Tahoma , copy it from your PC to the server via FTP , and reboot the server, it should work.

do you know how to delete the data from the disk? i delete torrent +data from utorrent, but the data is not deleted from the disk(still in Trash) how can i delete it using a commande line ?

fisherman

If u try "torrent+data" in utorrent and it don't work u can log in via ftp, I use Winscp and go to wine/dosdevices/C:/programfiles/utorrent

You'll find the files/partial files in there and just manually delete them :)

Sometimes if a torrent has lots of .rar files you'll find you won't be able to delete it from the webgui, this happens from time to time, so log in via tighnvnc and delete it the same way from there and there should be no probs.
