Need to figure out where to try to request a login.

Was a power user at oink which hasn't meant anything since 10/23 but am looking for a site with similiar depth in music choice, perhaps not as much as first since they are still growing but enough to get what I want if there is anything I want at that time.

So whats your fav and why should I ask for a invite to that site?

It depends what your looking for

General , lossless / flac , non english , community music site with a nice request area,

I don't like trance music so i won't request a trance music site which makes sense last time i looked

Look in the bittorrent review section it will give you a nice idea of what site has what

what.cd, waffles.fm and stmusic.org ... in that order.

The choice between waffles and what is split more or less evenly and that is alright. You have to understand that those three trackers are probably the best candidates at the moment to be a serious oink successor. They also share a number of common users so uploads on one tracker need not be exclusive if you're lucky.

what and waffles are very similar to each other but the latter is built on a much smaller community (waffles only has 23k members whereas what has 43k). A good example for the dedication put into both trackers are raw numbers:

what.cd seeded torrents: 85k
waffles.fm seeded torrents: 85k
what.cd peers: 300k
waffles.fm peers: 359k

In the end it doesn't matter which tracker you should choose because they're both great with stmusic somewhat lagging behind (46k torrents, 183k peers). stmusic should be the easiest to become a member at, I don't know about the current invite status at waffles but what has disabled invites for the moment because they're at the limit of their server capacity.

edit: the best idea would probably be to have more than one music tracker to choose from for multiple reasons. There are also a few quality alternatives that co-existed with oink and were successful enough even then - take pedro's btmusic for example.

I am a member at sounddamage already and although it is good it just doesn't have what I am looking for. Kinda of a weird music person, listen to all types but recently have been in the mood for jason mraz and good charlotte and such.

Would love to get into what or waffles when they open invites or by some brave soul willing to spend his or her invite on a fellow torrenter (is it torrenter or torrentor?) I never know

Thanks for the replies so far.

If I had to pick one, I think waffles beats out what.cd. Seems like what.cd admins have been spending all their time developing gazelle, secret new tracker code, which is cool and all, but waffles seems to be adding better features.

Waffles has been more stable than what.cd in the past few weeks, no doubt due to what.cd allowing far more members in. Even though waffles has fewer members, it has a comparable number of torrents, so users on average upload more torrents. Finally, waffles torrents seem to be better moderated, as I find a higher incidence of badly labelled or badly ripped torrents on what.cd. They're both pretty high quality though, getting on par with oink rip.

stmusic comes in third for me, it's fine and I ocassionally find torrents there that aren't anywhere else. just not as high quality in general.

The best is definitely having all three..

What.cd. Waffles is great, but I'm constantly worried that they're gonna screw over the community with too much free leech.

Leaving aside the great players in the game, musicplace has a lot of potential, too.

Every music tracker is unique , every tracker specializes to something....its very difficult to say which is the best because they dont have ''everything''....

Waffles, What, then STMusic-in that order. My personal favorite is BTMusic, because of its type of music, because it is mostly lossless, and because it is pretty easy to keep a good ratio. Waffles and What have few leechers for most files, so I find myself downloading only files I think I'll be able to seed. BTMusic has a number of free leech files that are always easy to seed. STMusic is by far the easiest of those mentioned to find an invite into, and is worth having. When you can get into the invite section, you will have no trouble finding an invite. I like the communities of all of them--I've found them to all be friendly and helpful.

In general, waffles and what have new releases of albums of popular genres like pop and rock. Having both sites is great for me as, some songs/ablums one site couldn't find, I can always go to the other to search.

I do like trance/house/dance/jpop/kpop. Waffles and what have a decent amount of collections for all the genres but not enough for me :) Unfortunately TT is closed :( Maybe somebody could introduce some trance/house/dance trackers for me :P
As for jpop , I think Jpopsuki (Semi-Private tracker?) have a huge collections of them as compared to other trackers, you guys should give it a try even you don't understand the language of the song (Artist-> BoA) I promise it will be nice :D

In my opinion, one or two sites might not satisfy all your cravings, mixture of multiple sites would be great. Due to the availability of sign ups in the private trackers world, not everyone can do this, like me :(

So the current combination I like most is
Waffles + What + Jpopsuki + Ukoo (private chinese site with public tracker)
(Might change if somebody introduces more sites with open sign up to me:w00t:)

what.cd, waffles, stmusic

I am on all 3, hard to say which one I'd drop first, actually none. :E

I'll only mention the advantages, disadvantage would sound like flame and you should also keep in mind all 3 sites are still under improvement construction.

what.cd:
- best layout (prolly matter of taste tho)
- fastest visible improvements
- 90,000+ torrents

waffles.fm
- most active userbase
- best torents/user ratio
- 90,000+ torrents

stmusic
- separate scene section
- most helpful+friendly mods, seriously :D
- 46,000+ torrents (all inactive got removed + allows the least content width - only music and in most cases lower quality than the available is not allowed [except V0]).

Hope that helps a bit

btw, sounddamage looks promising, but it's still at the beginning :x

thanks to everyone that replied, I think I will try to get an invite to what or waffles soon or when its possible

I truly miss oink though because of the amount of invites given out were very refreshing. One day I have 2 invites the next I can invite 10 people just by becoming a power user. It was nice, hopefully some fellow oinkers out there will share the love of the new sites.

Maybe I will just wait for gazelle..............na can't wait too long

thanks for replying

Out of all the music trackers i am on (Waffles, STMusic, What?, VipV2) i would say ST was the best...there's always people dowloading nearly every torrent and it's very easy to keep a good ratio on there...it may not be the rariest but it's certainly a very good tracker for music.

I like Waffles aswell though. What and vipv2 are hit and miss for me.

STMusic is cool, except not enough of the flac rips have logs imo. I just wish everyone would use EAC or document it with a log when they do (log + cue on exact ripping guide settings is the best). However is there some way to check whether a rip is perfect or not besides just listening to it, a program called audiochecker? Not sure if it checks for errors in rips or only for lossless non-transcode though. May not be the right place to ask but it is related to the topic.
