does anybody know how to convert dvd to divx? and i dont have a dvd burner! do you guys know sites that tells u? and just wounderin is it a long process?

Basically, all you need is a DVD drive (a DVD burner is not required), a ripping program (removes copy protection), and an encoder (mpeg to divx/xvid). A CDRW to burn your file(s) to one, two or more CDs.

Rippers: SmartRipper, DVD-Decrypter
Encoders: Vidomi (http://www.vidomi.com/), Gordon Knot, Mpeg2avi

Either ripper will suffice. Vidomi is slightly dated (no AC3) but easier for 1st timers but Gordon Knot has more control features. Both websites have excellent guides. Ripping takes about 10 to 20 minutes. Encoding is all CPU power. A 2.4 GHz P4 takes about 3 hours for a two-pass job while a 1.7 GHz Celeron can take 7 hours on the same two-pass job.
