I just got into SCC...am I a sitting duck?

People have told me that unless you have good upload speed, it's very hard to keep a good ratio there. My download max is about 600 kB/sec and my upload is around 45 kB/sec. Do I have much of a chance of staying alive at SCC? :unsure:

Yes. I have 1.5Mbps download, 256Kbps upload and I do fine.

You can download run-of-the-mill scene files from other general 0-day trackers, and help seed them on SCC without actually downloading them.

Yeah, I just noticed the free leech section, which is pretty cool. Since I have such a huge buffer at TL, I guess I could download some stuff there and seed it at SCC if it comes to that.

You have to be smart.
It´s hard to keep ratio, but there are ways, I´d advise you about seeding something downloaded from another site, and begin downloading files with many leechers, if just a part of them, better. They have IMDB Top1, begin with that. Once you have a small buffer everything goes easier.

well as others said u have freeleech section forever on 0day/MP3,i remember my time when i have leech almost everything from there until i reach scene power class:D

also u can download file from other site and u can make recheck and continue to seed on SCC if your ratio is low:)

Yea I am in the same boat as you, what I do is download something, and leave it seeding for 2-3 days.

Yea, there's no problem with that... I had long time only home connection and was good, I upleaded some dvdr, music packs etc to some sites, even u can seed at free leech. You can survive without seedbox.

I started doing what DanielleD87 said, that is, RSS downloading the MP3/0day section. All I can say is thank god I just bought an external HDD a few weeks ago.

must admit though there are some damn fast boxes on their site that makes seeding popular files almost impossible,,i've seen gigabit seeds a few times on some files ;-

I'm just amazed that people have the money for those...everywhere I've looked, speeds like that come with quite a hefty price...x_x

be careful with what you dl there. as its been said use the mp3 section for a small boost and if you see a dvd thats gonna be big or a new game those are big enough and popular enough to help us little guys as long as we only grab a couple rars, grab 2-3 rars or about 100-150 MB's worth early and seed the crap out of it. i have those same speeds(u got comcrap?) and with about 100 MB downloaded i can seed 2-3 GB from a popular dvd or game on most trackers.

That's pretty slow still, even if you leave it on 24/7

You should consider getting high speed.
Also, upload something they don't have yet, tv seasons.

Yeah, that was my plan when I first got into TL. Oh, and I have Roadrunner, which I believe is a subsidiary of Comcast.

ive found out that on days that i cant find anything to download ill pick up a tv show or game that has very few seeders but alot of leechers even if i dont want them to keep my ratio up.

This is a really good way to boost your ratio, dl popular movies, tvshows and just go there to re-check and seed seed seed. Thats how i do it and im able to keep a good ratio any site that is usually "hard" to seed at :D

Just download a few samples from dvdrs or a few rar files not the lot and just seed a small amount of the actual file you will have no problems otherwise it is hard there
