Has anyone seen this film yet? It doesn't come out in the UK until the 25th (my birthday :D) and I'm a big fan of both Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, so was just wondering if it's as good as their other films? I've seen the trailers and I love how dark and creepy it looks...

Also, I know it's an 18 (or whatever the US exquivilant is) so is it really gory/scary? I'm not good with things like that :P and I wanna be prepared if I'm gonna see it on the big screen

I just saw it. The entire cast is great, and Tim Burton brings his trademark elements and atmosphere to the film (which fortunately goes well with the musical it's adapted from). It's extremely bloody and dark, but in a funny way. I recommend seeing it. :)

I thought it was awesome. It's very burton. It's a musical, which I was initially worried about, but the music is really great and fits the dark creepy mood of the film. At first it was hard for me to watch johnny depp killing people, but I grew accustomed to it after the first half-dozen. :)

Definitely worth it! Don't bring your mother!

I was kinda disappointed actually. Like ign said this movie is more of an opera than a musical. I guess this is why I wasn't as into to it. I really didn't find many of the songs enjoyable. Typically after I watch musicals theres always a few songs that get stuck in my head after i watch the movie. Unfortunately, isnt the case for this one. Ign also mentioned that the movie doesn't developer the characters that well in some cases, which I also agree with. I would have like a little more development for some of the minor characters. Finally, I read that the movie and the play have different endings. I think that the ending from the play would have been much more satisfying then the movies.
My grade:
C+

I have not seen it. I have heard of a lot of people walking out on it though...? Never was one for musicals, maybe a classic but?

The scene where Helena Bonham Carter sings "By the Sea" is my favorite scene, because it contrasts so well with the rest of the movie, and it's also adorable. I would watch the movie in a theatre just for that scene, it looks amazing on the big screen.

Great flick I really liked Johnny's "My Friend " , singing to his razor . Not for the young or squeamish tho .

The girlfriend was freaking out with all the gore but I thought it was great.

Yep I thought it was great too. It wasn't that gory. Just a bit of throat slitting. Didn't deserve an 18 rating IMO.

Bloody amazing film! I thought that the singing was good, and maybe the gore was just below what i expected (for an 18 anyway).

I didn't know it was a musical before I started watching it ... and I generally dislike musicals though there were exceptions.

Unfortunately, this one was not an exception and I pulled the plug on it.

Guy gets his head kicked in and thrown out of a house and then starts singing ... WTF ...
