Well it works on pc100 slots.. you just have to literally shove it into the ram slots.. but i think thats my comp though.. coz when i was shoving the ram in   , i felt the mobo bending a little bit.. and i thought it might break.. lol well try to shove it in harder.. if not. i guess your ram slots are messed up?

yeah man...its in there GOOD trust me lol...the connecting pin things hold it and crap so i know its in there....its just kinda weird..like it detects it and everything..just not the RIGHT amount of ram...and it wont start windows

Try pulling it out and screaming at it and then shove that stubborn thing back in there.. (Screaming is for releasing the tension :D)

Some pc133 ram is not backwards compatible with pc100 systems. Check the manufacturers notes or site to find out if yours is.

Its Ultra which is good memory..so i think it should..and it DOES detect it..its just weird lol

No, Ultra is one of the worst for this. Kingston is backwards compatible but the C2 cas latency ratings suck. Make sure you get ram that can run c2 at 100 mgh AND 133 or it's just a waste of money.

cas2 latency basically means that the ram is sitting for 2 cycles from the time you ask it to work before it starts working

basically, the smaller the number, the better

generally ddr ram is cas2 or cas2.5 and sdram is cas3

Not cast, cas. Cas 2 is a LOT faster than cas 3. cheap ram usually can't do it or can only make 2.5 at 133 mgh. If you try and push it, or mix types,it will give you errors. So... what's your new ram rated at? have you checked?

Use this link. It's an educational site with resources only. Choose one of the kick me to fosi links and look for SiSoft Pro. It'll tell you what the specs are and give you some clues to the problem. If it won't download, turn off your firewall for a second.

With an older Dell, yeah it's entirely possible that they'd do something like that.
