It seems like a lot of the Posters are Locking their threads, to avoid SPAM, if this keeps up, we won't call this the Invite section any more.......
Honestly, I have kept my responses to a minimal....
It should be call " Just PM me "....LOL..just a thought :frusty::frusty::frusty:

Good point to a certain extent..... but in all reality the amount of spamming is unbeleivable. A simple request or giveaway or trade and all of a sudden it's 4 pages long with useless comments....

A trade/giveaway is a useless comment/post to begin with. It's only expected that users carry on the topic.

ya good point, then you get those people who just say good luck mate, or something thats just not related to the topic, and then another person don't like what they're saying, and they will start arguing in the same thread that belongs to somebody else, so some people just started closing it, to avoid those type of people.

On the flip side, it does "bump" up your thread somewhat, I am NOT advocating or condoning the act of Spamming, don't get me wrong...
Your Post could be "buried' really fast too.......LOL

I totally agree with you. It has advantages aswell as disadvantages. An advantage is indeed that your post gets bumped so gets new readers. 2 Disadvantages are that it is full of spam you do not need and that there are a lot of negative comments in it. Especially comments like 'trading is bad' are found in every thread, 'you shouldn't trade this or that'. That's what you think. Just let the guy go ahead and mind your own business, then we don't need to spam your thread :)

Well this is a trading forum so I don't see how a trade or giveaway thread is useless. And yes the users that are interested carry on the posts but all the "very nice", "that's not worth that" ect... is useless and then u find urself scanning thru heaps of posts....

Buy yeah on the flip side as stated, it can bump up the thread lol

It pertains to the Invite section, where this occurs, ONLY in the INVITE section , can U lock your thread. <<< [ discussing this]:frusty::frusty:
Why is it the wrong section?.....

I guess that is food for thought. Some valid points have been expressed thus far in this thread. But some people actually have the invites people are looking for and maybe purposely raid a thread to see if their eligible or trustworthy enough for that invite.

i think it's fine as it is. amongst what some call spam, many interesting facts sometimes show up, so limiting it would not necessarily be the best option.

Only n00bs who want free invites in random giveaways, but don't have ''enough'' posts spam every thread they can. Also people who are in desperate need of more stars, cause stars are like ''respect'' or some kind of ''cachet''.

Spams often look like this: Nice giveaway: in giveaway threads. Posting a big picture of something that is supposed to be funny, but it's not. This is a very smart way of spamming and ''posthunting'', cause it's not the usual spam, but an ''funny'' picture. Yes, some people don't have the intention to spam the thread, but it ends up with more people commenting the picture, and almost every time the comments in the thread has nothing to do with the topic.

What I want to say is, that if you don't have anything good to come with, don't post.

Excellent post boosting spam you got going on there, but what would I expect from the ultimate single smiley spammer, and to think you got 2 posts closer to your spamming goal for them quality additions.

k, found an example at the first one i looked at, TorrentJunky made a new post asking for sct invite or account here: http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-bittorrent-invites-90/t-need-sct-invite-account-271728

and then locked it up right away, but then he has this thread from earlier...

http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-bittorrent-invites-90/t-have-sct-271430

people who do that are almost all shady as shit like this guy and big traders who really shouldnt get anything on any torrent sites other then a ban.

Artemis

the point of a forum is that there are different opinions, or should we just ban those people that you dont agree with, then there could be four or five new threads a day , full of comments like +1 or my thoughts exactly..........it'll be great

I and many others would disagree with that. If you think this is just a trading forum you're missing out on a lot and I hope you can see beyond the invite section.

And SAM is right the spam is getting out of control. It's one thing for someone to post off topic if it's well thought out and interesting but the crap that's been posted in the last few months is

EDIT:

I'm not advocating a ban though...just some light discipline from the mods

I agree with u but u don't want them to lock it then?? I think they should lock em to avoid spam cuz like fisherman said.....like 80% of the comments in a thread r totally useless n just a way for users to increase their post count.

What I hate though is when someone requests something n people spam or go off topic in that person's request, that's something that needs to be fixed.

Mostly users who lock topic to avoid spam is the one's who want to trade......like for e.g. a guy named calender (or something like that). The guy has bumped his threads like 20 times n then just locks em n everytime he bumps it annoys me

Yea constant bumpers are the worst, especially when you lock your thread afterwards, but to each it's own i guess.

 is that guy serious he opened two threads asking for the same invite in two days what the.... :slap:

And as far as the pictures in threads I personally like them because it gives me some variety when I scanning this section and yes those guys that post just pm me and lock there threads seem like the type of people who not interested in the site other then for the levels.

That's because you are not allowed to persistently start new threads with the same topic.

Bumping your own thread of what you want, providing it hasn't changed, is the best course of action actually.

No the ones that don't follow the 12 hour rule. Sorry Sgt i should of been more clear about my point.:pinch: But yes i agree with you with only having one thread though. I see people opening up like 5 request threads for the same request. Thats an automatic no no(no help from me) for me.

Spamming is a lot more annoying than bumpers. It would very primitive if we had to ban every ''spammer''. Then a big discussion would blow up regarding what's spam and what's not. First of all we have decide if we are going to allow spammers or not.

You have to know that there can't come out anything good out of spam. Spammers have only one intention, and I think we all know what that is by now.

considering the amount of spam we see in this section everyday (this thread was a good example before i cleaned it up), closing it right after posting for a trade and unlock it 12 hours later to bump it seems to me like a wise way to act...

the close thread is an option available in the invite section and there is a reason to it, so just respect people who use it
