1)bounce back between Pro Tools and Cubase for school and such at least for a DAW
2)Reason and Recycle
3)SoundForge(recording mixes)
4)been bouncing back and fourth between Virtual DJ and Traktor
5)been playing with Minimonsta
6)and have been having fun with this Cbasicore64, check it out..it's awesome...it's free and it creates all these 8-bit metroid style greatness :P

Well i just started using reason and its taking quite a while to get used to it.First program i tryed was fruity but i never got into it, i found it to cramped.

I've just been playing around with Cbasicore64 like BurntBlue recommended and its great.I love all the old school 8-bit sounds. :D

I'll try Cbasicore64 out. I put 8bit type sounds in my beats all the time.

for pre production stuff I just stick with:

-Audacity
-POD XT or POD 2.0 by line 6, goes straight to line in on computer
-guitar pro

for actual production:
-Pro Tools LE
-Cubase (not as much)
-Audacity

for post production:

-Adobe Audition
-Sound Forge (not for mixing as stated above)
-Pro Tools LE

I also use Acoustica BeatCraft for clicktracks and backing tracks for drums to keep a beat, but those are almost always temporary for demoing purposes only.

Oh and FYI, Pro Tools sucks, don't waste your money on it, I wish I hadn't. Hell it's not even my Pro Tools lol, so I'm happy I didn't end up buying the piece of crap.

Yeah, and it's proprietary too :( and the industry standard, so it is said...I agree with you though, but it's good to know how to use it I guess...
I've been messing with Ableton Live lately for digital dj purposes, I like it so far, but not experienced enough yet to give you the grit :)

but for very simple work: audacity or Kristal

Unfortunately i had to learn that the hard way. I purchased the mbox 2 and couldn't use it with anything else but pro-tools le 7. Also if you have the PC version, make sure you have a pentium 4 chip or AMD's equivalent and not the celeron or duron chips. Or you won't be able to use pro-tools 7 (the software)
