Oh God no, the original series was wank, although the films were brilliant. I remember watching every single episode as a kid from the first one shown on terrestrial telly in the UK. You know when as a kid you make a conscious effort to remember something for later? I knew that first episode was going to be the start of something special. I didn't think you could get any better than TNG, and then they did some spectacular stuff with DS9 and Voyager. Never did like either captains but the storylines and characters were inspired. Why did it all have to go wrong with Enterprise? Scott Bakula was a brilliant captain. It could have been so much better.

It is, and not necessarily because the storylines were better but because it set the foundation for the whole lot. There's just something special about it. Patrick Stewart probably. Although I did get pretty fed up with Tasha Yar going on about the sodding rape gangs on her home planet. I suspect she was covering up for the fact that she raped a whole lot of men before she left.

TNG just pips Voyager in my mind because Jayneway was so fucking annoying at times, and so was Chakotay, Torres, Kim, Parris, in fact everyone except Tuvoc and the doctor. But the storylines were easily the best.

I don't know about shaping a generation but if you watch something enough, you can't help but be influenced by its morals. My missus now talks with an aussie twang, for example.

You get it now though right? Ah well it was a lame joke anyway.

Nah, Roddenbury was a massive part of TNG. He even had a say in casting. He died part way through - a couple of series in I think. You'll notice that around that time the women's uniforms started getting a little more modest and miniskirts were replaced by trousers :P. I can just see the old perve slamming his fist on the board room table 'dammit, the skirts go over my dead body!'

Anyway, Troi?? You kidding me? She practically slid off her chair every time Riker looked at her. I think they did cover lesbianism in a small way with the Trill storyline in DS9 where Dax gets a 'male' symbiont and finds she has feelings for his ex wife. Can't remember if they got it on though.

It's amazing how in the future nobody bats an eyelid with regards to inter-species mating, but they still worry about catching ghey

Agree.
It was the Borg that made Voyager stand out from the rest.

7 of 9 particularly stood out for me

TNG was consistently good. DS9 had its moments. Voyager started slowly but picked up when the Borg got involved, Enterprise really didn't know what to do with itself, and by the time it got any good it had already lost too many fans.

I enjoyed TOS, but I don't really consider it to be in the same league as the rest, mainly because it was made 20 years before anything else. Without that though there wouldn't have been any others. There probably wouldn't have been any Babylon5, Lexx, Farscape, Andromeda, Battlestar Galactica, etc either...

The even numbered movies are good, the odd numbered ones suck. Best film is probably First Contact.

Errr, that's it.

Paint of some sort

Edit: acrylic according to the box lying on the sitting room floor in front of the TV along with newspapers and another nearly finished pic. I suppose I should be grateful she put newspapers down. She is at her Mum's tonight, I could tidy it all away but it will all come back out again tomorrow :dabs:

To be honest I am not sure but that is what it says on the box - tubes of Daler-Rowney acrylic paint. The one lying on the floor is quite neat too with a similar finish and she was definitely using them on that one. The school says she is good (well only in relation to her art like  )

I was a bit worried by the resemblance too :dabs: She assured me it was coincidental.

It was probably some mental reject from an episode of the Jeremy Kyle show that happened to be on at the time or something. No offence :shifty:.

Yeah....I'm fucking knackered though. Tropical?? I got back and I didn't feel cold, but I realised I must have been when I could barely get my mud splattered gear off or untie my sodden walking boots for bone-chilled numbness. Funny how you don't notice until you get in the warmth. It was pretty windy and cold, but it was bright.....perfect weather imo. Then I had a hot bath and spent a couple of hours in Topshop trying on dresses. So all in all a pretty good day :D:.

Thankfully no. It was just really windy and absolutely freezing. Thought parts of me were going to drop off when I left the office to go to the car park. I believe it is now set to snow but as the weather forecast appears to largely random these days anything could happen. As I have the evening to myself I am going to go and get myself a curry - just bracing myself for the chill :dabs:
