Well done French lads though - they played well.

Barbie didn't turn up at The Swan for the game. I think his missus must have put her foot down. He was hardly missed anyhow as it was packed.

The game itself was initially anti-climactic, England dominated everything and the girls, who insist upon going to the pub for internationals, talked loudly about babies and shopping for the entire first half and irritated the fuck out of anyone with a cawk.

But then, on 60 mins, that man-god Henson made a break, ghosting around at least three would-be tacklers and England shit their pants. Hook made Wilkinson look like a novice several times over and Mike Phillips showed England up badly for not having an international class scrum-half. I don't know how we won but it was awesome. Even more so 'cos I was at Twickenham in the summer when they thrashed us 63-5.

Getting really pished ensued. Only just got up, like.

Oh, and the Scotch were rubbish today. Too many hours in the gym and not enough practicing how to play rugby, me thinks.

Mr JP Fugley
02-03-2008, 07:13 PM
We got a deserved hammering, we really were shite at the basics of the game. Like throwing and catching.

The worst thing is France might not actually be very good. I fear the wurst. Wooden spoon anyone.

The two blokés in the orange boots looked fantastic with the ball in hand, but.

I think the French scrum will be their undoing as far as the championship is concerned but their backs, as ever, look brilliant.

Btw, I think you lot will srummage us off the park next week if you get it right. The Scotch pack has looked really solid for a while and if training goes well this week and Haddin stops them going to the gym so much, it won't be much fun for our, relatively, light-weight pack.
I'm hoping our back-line will pulverise you, tho', in a high-scoring yet close game.

Mr JP Fugley
02-03-2008, 07:30 PM
I think they'll spend the week on a Scotland Strip recognition course.

Mebbes they got confused against Les Blews what with them wearing Scotland strips and it'll be OK against the Puffins of Wales.

Big lumps playing out wide against us often do. We have a history of putting dwarfed midgets on the wing, it's a pity that Nicky Waker isn't Welsh - I think he wanted to be too as, for some reason I can't fathom, the Scotch don't seem to like him.

He's the best wing playing in Wales atm.

On reflection I guess it was just one of those games. The first try was a howler by the ref and the second a howler by Parks (he will have nightmares about that clearance attempt) Other than those two incidents it was a cracking first half and the pack looked great when they shoved the French off the ball. Cheebus knows what they had to drink at half time because they were woeful in the second half. I think near the end when the French cleared the ball poorly and it was going to Webster's arms just outside the 22 with gaps in front of him he clearly lost the plot (and ball :( ) However, that was one of many elementary mistakes - missed line outs, dropped balls, poor decision making. :dabs:

Wooden spoon sounds quite possible unless they play 80 minutes like the first half sans daft mistakes (from refs and players). Not sure how good the French are - as we gifted so many of their points. Next games will give a clearer picture.

Just off to the pub now in a minute.

Something feels not quite right about today, duno whether it's Gatland's unfeasibly h4r5h reaction to beating the inbreds at Twickenham or maybe it's being overwhelming favourites that's not sitting right.
Either way, I'm nervous.

That's right; now in a minute.

FFS! :( another dismal 80 minutes and another crappy decision on a try. If Jonathan Davies doesn't think it is a try who feck else would - oh yes a TV touch judge who can watch it in slow motion :dabs:

Oh well the leeks deserved to win and I think they would have anyway despite there only being 5 points in it at the time of the try. Fuck we were crap! Without Webster and the two Lamont boys we have no cutting edge. Still shite at the catching thing too although not as bad as last week. At least we were still in the game until the last 15 minutes this time.

Wooden spoon, wooden spoon, wooden spoon. :dabs:

tough break biggles yes it was never a try but the chances that scotland was ever going to break the welsh try line was very slim,
i thought it was nearly a repeat of the england game, where this time we should have racked up the points in the first half but failed and scotland was still in touch i still thing wales have a lot of improvement left but 2 wins on the trot is a good start

His foot was off the ground, wasn't it. It's a pity about the dispute because it detracts from just how good a try it was. Ladies' favourite Shane never normally does that against good teams - I don't think there'll be a better try in the Six Nations this year.

The Welsh handling, btw, was superb yesterday. I can't ever remember it being so good.

Ireland away for the Triple Crown, can't wait! :01:

Mr JP Fugley

Definitely touched the line mate. There was an obvious divot lifted. Even wee Edwards said it was not in doubt.

The win was still deserved tho', it was unlikely we were ever going to score a try. Even if Paterson had scored another 2 pens you would also have scored and won the game.

The better team won.
