Well, forgive me for stating the obvious but it seems a new light has been shed on their unscrupulous ways going back to their 2002 SB win over the Rams.

I was specially interested in this paragraph:

Another former Patriots quarterback, who spoke to ESPN.com on condition of anonymity, says that New England pushes the envelope further than most teams and that the Patriots were doing so long before they were caught in September.

The timing of this news cracks me up somewhat

Really?

edit: Mmk, I had to check the defensive ranks. It's quite obvious that the Pats have the #1 offense (they broke Minny's record ffs).

Pittsburgh had the #1 defense and NE was #4. The only team that Pats really shut down was my Redskins (allowed one TD).

Btw, who knows what they had up their sleeve to win this year.

And yes they are cheaters.

Oh boy. Not another Pats hater. My team is going to take it all tonight. Remember the Pats may of video taped a couple of games previously but other teams were doing it as well. Pats are the only team that got caught. Honestly i don't think it's as big as the media's making out to be. Everyones on the Pats hater bus these days but we are taking all. Best NFL team ever in this era! Only rival is 49er with Montana and Rice.:yup::yup::yup::whistling

Actually, I hated the Pats since Bob Kraft had the audacity to demand from the Jets their overall first round pick in exchange for Parcells back in 97. So no, I'm delighted to say I'm not a bandwagon jumper on this "hate the Pats" outcry.

You may be right that spying on opponents is not unique to the Patriots but it takes on a whole new and appaling level when you get caught doing it on your Super Bowl opponent prior to game day. Any advantage, no matter how small, is still an advantage. And for all we know, that might have been the edge the Pats needed to win that nail biter of a game against the Rams. Who's to say?

And it sure smells funny that Commish Goodell has destroyed those "Spygate" tapes :whistling

No wonder the Patriots guess right most of the time.

Can't believe I routed for them on the AFC.

Congrats to all fellow Giants fans! We did it!

And to the Pats... Take that! Cheaters!

Oh my bad. I could have sworn you said you were a Pats man.

Apologies.

There are so many people jumping on the Pats bandwagon that it's ridiculous.

I mean were they Pats fans before Parcells was there or before 2001?

I would understand if they were pretty young.

However, in the sports talk, I despise people that are always for the frontrunner.

On the AFC - I was actually a Pats fan (since 2001) until they were proven to be cheaters this season... I really can't believe I routed for them. :dabs:

Don't get me wrong. You'll naturally root for a certain team once yours is out of the competition. However, having "another" team is ridiculous.

I probably would have rooted for anyone but the Patriots since I like seeing upsets.

I did like seeing Michael Jordan win though (except when they were playing my Bullets).

DefX

I root for two nfl teams, the Giants and Jets, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Much the same way I root for both Yanks and Mets.

I know that's frowned upon by sports fans especially NY sport fans, but I can't help it. I can't help but feel joy whenever a local team does good.

But to be a bandwagon jumper and just root for who's winning now is just a total sellout. As a fan, it is your obligation to live and die with your team through their successes and failures. Anything less and you might as well watch tennis or golf.

I really didn't care which team won, but I would've liked to see the Pats make a perfect season.

And like some sports commentators said, all teams do it, it was just the Pats that were caught. Teams in all sports all over the world try to get a leg up on the competition, some go a little further than others, but the fact is every team does period. It's a business.

Don't get me wrong, i love sports and I watch a lot, mainly hockey but some soccer, football, and basketball. I do think my favourite team does some of it, but it's better I don't know

Yep that's true and being from maine when the giants are out i usually root for the patriots just to have a reason to watch football and they are on tv here every week.Which is kind of weird seeing how things went down this year.I still can't believe we beat them pricks!!!

I'm kinda like DefX... I also have two favorite football teams (as well as two fav baseball teams: Mets/Yanks), since I see it as two different conferences/leagues... In the NFC my fav has always been the Giants and in the AFC it had been the Patriots, which I started routing for in 2001 when they had that "great" underdog-throughout season (plus I also hated the Rams, which they beat in the Superbowl that year and kinda "sold" me out into them Pats)... I didn't start watching the NFL since 2001 by the way, since I wasn't born and didn't grow up here in the U.S.

All I care about right now is that my G-Men are the World Champs! Parade's on Tuesday!

You youngsters.:whistling

Conferences and leagues are quite different things, btw.

I understand now either way.

I didn't know DefX had two teams as well. Do y'all have two basketball teams too. edit: just saw a previous post

Let me guess....one is the LA Lakers or Chicago Bulls..:ermm:

I know a guy at work that has these teams.

College Basketball: North Carolina
Pro Basketball: LA Lakers
Pro Football: Dallas Cowboys
Pro Baseball" NY Yankees

All frontrunners/storied franchises. Convenient.

I can kinda understand that one though since they are all NY teams.

For college basketball, I root for the Georgetown Hoyas and the Maryland Terrapins.

Pro football, I only have one team, the Redskins. I'll root for the Giants if the Skins are out (a lot of my family is from NYC).

Pro basketball, I root for the Washington Wizards..

Pro baseball, I root for the Washington Nationals. I wasn't a real baseball fan so I used to root for the closet team, the Baltimore Orioles.

College football, it's the Terps again.

Anybody pre-order the Patriots 19-0 book at Amazons?

On another note, if you didn't despise Belichick before, him running away with his tail between his legs with 1 second remaining on the game had to do it. Funny how fast he abandons his team on the field when things went awry. What a classless and cowardly act. Even New Englanders hold the same sentiment.

Also, Seymour telling the Giants "to pack it all in and get ready to go home" prior to the game winning drive by the Giants   I heard the Pats were even inviting the Giants to their post SB celebration party :glag:

An appropriate ending indeed. :)

Patriots are not the only team that taped the other teams plays and signals from the sidelines. They just were the first caught doing it. I'll give it to the Giants for the superbowl win. They just wanted it more. Their defensive line outshined ours that night. Next year we will dominate every team worse then you could ever imagine. I can guarantee that.

DefX
02-08-2008, 12:54 AM
I highly doubt they'll dominate teams again as much as they had this season. Sure, they'll win the AFC east as that's probably the weakest division in NFL. If anything, this SB showed that if you hit Brady enough in the mouth, their passing game is not as imposing as many think. The Giants has set the blueprint in how to beat them. Pressure.

I applaud the Pats for this wonderful season they just had albeit it ended miserably for them. Their loss in the SB just shows how extremely tough it is to accomplish a perfect season.

Grimms it's good that you think your team is going to have a better year next year then this but it's near impossible.I will go as far as to say your out of your fucking mind.If they do i will come back licking my wounds though and you can say i told you so :)
