i really don't see any point in trying to get into trackers that i don't need, it's a waste of time and doesn't get you anywhere. For example, I don't care at all for a ScT invite because i don't have a seedbox or a really fast connection, so it wouldn't be any use to me, and would be too hard to maintain.

basically, i only keep trackers where to pros outweigh the cons, i don't keep them depending on the tracker's level. :)

I think at some point I was a collector, now I`m letting die a big amount of accounts.
I donīt think I made it for collecting, what happened itīs that I began in tracker "X", "Y" and "Z", then I got "A", "B" and "C", better, faster... and so on and on. Each and everyone of the older were important for me because they gave me good experiences and I didnīt want to let them down, maybe sentimental reasons, the fact is that I was member at... I donīt know 60/70 or maybe more sites... and itīs absolutely impossible to keep all of them. Now I am active at 10/15, not strictly the best ranked, one of those Iīll never leave is BitSoup, for example.

I sign up for any tracker I think will be of use to me, rare or open signups, doesn't matter. If I do not think it suits my needs, I either let it go inactive, /delacc, or give it away here.
At one point I had a whole skew of trackers I didn't need, and when I finally realized I was never going to use them, I adopted the above philosophy.

I believe there can be a couple different definitions for the word collector in the terms of bitorrenting.

1. Person who is a member of several trackers so they can have access to as much content as possible.

2. A person who collects all the elite trackers and will do almost anything to get them. Most likely they won't even use these trackers anyways. They just want to enlarge their e-penis.

I fit in number one. Without demonoid or oink the closest thing to matching their content is to be a member at many trackers. I feel most people fit into this category. If your an expereinced torrenter and belong to best trackers that suit the content you want, more than likely you will no longer will feel the need to join as many trackers.

i dont get the whole e-penis thing. how is bittorrent cool anyways? do you tell your friends at work/school you're a member at FtN? do they really care? only losers with absolutely no life would care or even think twice about their 'e-penis'

Tracker ? Huh o_0...

actually when I first started out I thought having more trackers would mean more things to download so I got as many as I cloud get my hands on. At the time there were no levels and rarity wasn't really an issue so that never came into it. After a few months of being on private trackers I came to realise they all have the same content generally and I only need a few. ATM I have three that I use every day...another two I use once a week or so and a few other specialised sites for when I'm looking for that rare gem of a torrent.

i am a member of 4 or 5 trackers, and i can hardly keep up with all of them as it is

it is hard to see how some members can juggle their memberships spread across 11 - 19 accounts

I am a member of way more than I need, and I'll probably let a bunch die, but I don't think I'm a collector. If I see an open signup I will likely signup for it out of curiousity, but I don't request a bunch of invites to sites and then never use them.

well by mievmo's guidelines i'm a collector, although I dont think so.
I have 1 site for TV, 1 site for dvdr, 3 sites for 0day/general, and 1 site for community/requests. I suppose I don't really need 3 sites for general/0day, but one is a lot easier to seed on older stuff, and the other 2 have amazing packs, among other perks. I am very active on them all on a daily basis.

I always seem to find something new in a tracker. Also, I don't leave my old trackers just because I found one that is better in that particular category. For instance, IPTorrents gave me a lot back when I had nothing. I continue to seed there although I have no need for them right now. If that makes me a collector then I am one.

I would say that I really need about 5,6 trackers. I keep a few more mainly because of what I said in the beginning.

Same. I'd still like to get into 1 or 2 more, but I don't have the time to go look at a dozen different trackers to see what they've put out in the last day. And some of these trackers put out a lot.

I think everyone is curious when they first start out and of course, asking some people about tracker C which you aren't a member of you will get this oh its so much better than your one spiel, partly this is just them trying to sound cool or whatever so you are naturally inquisitive.I wouldn't say I am a collector for the simple reason that there are some types of torrents and therefore torrent trackers that simply do not interest me so I have not joined or been honest if offered an invitation and turned it down because I would not use it.
That being said there are a/c's I have let lapse or used delacct because they were not what I was after, either in terms of content or 'feel' but I definitely have more than 5 trackers that I use regularly.

1 or 2 rn't enough?

well I've been using torrents for almost solely music until fairly recently

Kraytracker - great for punk, ska, hxc, and requests for anything 'underground'
Punktorrents - anything thats not RIAA safe and in the same genres as kray
Indietorrents - I admit this one could be labelled as a 'collectors' one. I find some reaally rare indie/post hardcore vinyl rips that arn't anywhere else, but other than that I mostly just upload over there
Rockbox - This has all you'll ever need for grindcore/ anything else that's metal
VIPV2 - well the collections and music videos here are really the only thing I use this tracker for, but its all scene, and is already very promising even tho its new
Libble - I always look here first for what I want, because the bonus system doesn't let you worry if noone leeches from you, this site is really underrated
STM - I use this before what and waffles because there are way more leechers over here, and if i can find what i want in the right bitrate, itll be reseeded fast
what - theres a leechers problem here, so I'll only go here when I can't find what I'm looking for elsewhere
waffles - same as what, but it's even harder to seed imo. i hope both will fix the no leechers, because i want to start dling more but i dont want to have a ratio under 1

then the last 2 are sounddamage, which i got because of all the hype about it being good, but with under 1000 torrents i havnt bothered using it. The other is hhbase, which is kinda pointless and I'll probably let that one rot with 1 seeded torrent, unless I get into rap that I can't find on STM, what, or waffles

you know what, i think I'll make a new thread about music trackers, so this rant/ranking won't go to waste :P

The Wanderer

Never was never will. The moment I got what I was looking for I tried out the site for a month or two and if it didn't meet my expectations I let the account die or I gave it away.

Well if more than 5 is collecting then you can say I am a collector. I use about 3 0day trackers, a couple of e-learning, and a couple of general trackers. I just need a music tracker to top it off. I was an oinker and hopefully what and waffles will have open invites soon.

If your an expereinced torrenter and belong to best trackers that suit the content you want, more than likely you will no longer will feel the need to join as many trackers.

i fit in category one, but little by little im letting go of ones i dont use anymore and keeping ones that i use on a daily basis. about 11 right now.

I currently use about 20 sites but don't see myself as a collector. I like rare stuff and useruploads, which often hit only 1 or 2 of those sites, and also I don't necessarily go for new stuff, again needing to find it seeded somewhere.

Just to break it down some more.

7 music sites

E and Pedros for Lossless rips that you can trust to be properly ripped
TT and TR for my electronic needs
Waffles and What? for general uploads
IT for the occational indie gem

3 0-day

FTN for new stuff
ScT for some of their packs, especially complete TV series that I don't dare grab at BMTV, since it's a bitch to seed.
TL for older stuff + some of the things from p2p groups that won't be uploaded at FTN or ScT

3 Nordic

TTi for DVD
NB for XviD
DB for Danish stuff

Userrips

Bunny
FSC
Pisexy
SITR
KG

E-learning

Bitme

TV

BMTV

I don't see that as being a tracker collector. I do see that as being a collector, but more of a Movie/Music collector.

Some of the sites I use pretty much every day, others once or twice a month, but I still feel the need to keep them all.

I don't sign up a new trackers, since I feel I'm covered by the sites I have i.e. how can I be a collector then?

I aim to join trackers i think i may need or plainly just want to be apart of (Don't care about the rarity factor as far as levels). Whether it's for content purposes, forums, or rare stuff that i cannot find anywhere else but at a specialized tracker. I don't think someone is considered a collector in my book just because they have access to a lot of different trackers. Now if your just joining them because of some level or to brag online about how you have this many trackers and don't use them, then I consider that person a collector. Just my two sense.

Being a collector is only bad if you collect to brag and don't use them. Then your just taking up space cause you can, while another member could really utilize that space. Being a collector could be good or bad depending on your intentions behind it. Good intentions basically equal you having access to alot of trackers that you actually have USE for. Bad intentions equal you just collecting trackers for some false status, E-penis enlargement (I hate that word but see it overused, blah whatever), trading to get a better site, or just to cause hell to members, staff, or what ever other evil purposes.
