This is just crazy. After the forced upgrade of utorrent1.7.6, i thought everything is gonna fine now though i couldn't connect to horrorcharnel with it.

That was not enough and now there is a new hero-utorrent 1.7.7. Reading the pm in hdbits and problems regarding 1.7.6 in sct, i upgraded and evrything was fine for a day. And now i got a message in my client saying the client 1.7.7 is sending invalid data to their tracker and so digdogdug banned it. :frusty:Isn't there a permanent solution to this? I'm thinking to switch on to other clients.

Edit; Now i again downgraded and i can't connect to sct and PT. wtf? Did they ban 1.7.6?

Yes, at SCT 1.7.6 is banned.

I donīt know what the hell is happening, some trackers are driving me crazy, at Nordic-T 1.7.6 was banned, yesterday was unbanned... uTorrent is pissing me off.

So happy I was with 1.6.1 for long time.

PT also banned 1.7.6 ... and if now it turns that 1.7.7 has bugs we will have to let utorrent go for a period .

There are a few problems for sure.
Or you upgrade for the ast version 177 or you use what you care more, i mean, if you care about ScT follow their rules and w8 the other update their too.
Other way, you have diferent bt clients, but somes are banned in a few tracker as well xD
Complicated world xD

Sooner or later anyone use utorrent will have to upgrade to 1.7.7 if they want to play.

any site not taking 1.7.7 isn't worth bothering with. No other sites have issues with invalid data reporting, so its on the tracker side, and banning the client is not the solution to that problem.

there are no problems with sending invalid data or whatever u call it,if u get some tracker error that dosent have anything to do with utorrent client..

sct have banned all versions of utorrent except 177 so u cant use anyother than 177:)

yea if u think its good then switch to azureus

I'm not liking version 1.7.7 to be honest.

I've been using the same server for the past few months with no probs really. Then we had to upgrade our Utorrent. I upgraded from 1.6.1 to 1.7.6 and everything was still fine but in the last week when I upgraded to 1.7.7 I'm finding my speeds are are not stable in my Utorrent... They seem to be fluctuating alot where as with the lower version they were perfect to be honest.

I'm just not liking this version 1.7.7

1.7.7 sucks big time. It's gobbling up my RAM like crazy. I'm going to have to mess around with the settings but something is wrong because as soon as I approach full download speed it hogs all my resources. When I got up for work this morning it was using 1GB of RAM :O

It may be a program bug, but run memtest, see what it comes up with.

I'm using it on my server.... Just strange that when I upgraded I saw the lagging.... I also uninstalled it from my server and re-booted and reinstalled but still feels a bit buggy. I'm still hittin very good speeds but it's fluctuating and it didn't do that with lower version..Hmm....

I just got another crash dump in utorrent 1.7.7. today. Also alot of trackers don't allow uTorrent 1.7.7. either like Myspleen.

grimms, were you running any other software at the time, or any background services such as AV? I'm not saying those were the issue, but finding a commonality is important if there is a bug. It could simply be a memory leak, as memory being filled seems to have happen as well. Have you noticed high or raising ram recently since upgrading?

i THINK, soon they are going to ban it too. Anyway i don't think they will ask you to downgrade. If there is no new version of utorrent sooner, they might ban the client itself.

The trackers also must think so. This should actually be discussed in the tracker forums, but many of them don't encourage such topics and will be locked. From this we can realize how many are really community friendly. They don't realize they are reducing the seeding time of their own torrents with people using different clients to leech from different trackers.

I'm not sure if it exists or not, but perhaps a community rep section would be helpfull. A place for admins/mods to discuss why certain clients are ban'd/not ban'd, problems they are having with them, concerns, etc...
Just a thought to bring some unity to the whole client fiasco. Information and more communication between sites wouldn't hurt with all the rumors and speculation.
I know not all sites have community reps, but a lot do.

What gets me is, its the trackers that get it in the neck for this, but surely if Utorrent got it correct at 1st time of asking (or even the 2nd) then this sort of thing wouldnt happen.

and i have to laugh at these comments, that say "well SCT have banned/allowed it, so other will follow suit"

hmm why, we dont take our orders from anyone, never mind SCT or even the Utorrent Devs.

so before you start bad mouthing the trackers, maybe get onto Utorrent to get their act together and quickly.

Although I agree with what you've said, as I stated in another post, the 1.7.5 to 1.7.6 update was for a known vulerability, and the 1.7.6 to 1.7.7 was for a different problem found during a code audit. Now no one can verify the exploit found via the code audit, because no company is going to release technical details about exploits in previous versions, to protect their non-updating users, and to protect against bad publicity. No company does this, uTorrent isn't any different.
I'm not defending uTorrent, and I'm not saying I totally believe the story, but theres really no proof against it either. So no use arguing over the updates. But IMO, IF there were new bugs found, I appreciate their effort to correct them, even if it means releasing an update 1 week after the previous one. I mean c'mon, do you really think they like recoding updates that often?

stoi

ok 1.6 and 1.6.1 has been fine for 2 years or so, then they have this problem.

so its taken them 2 years to discover it, sorry but that just reaks of bull to me.

Tokeman
02-07-2008, 01:13 AM
they are still discovering flaws in windows XP, how long has that been out?
Not much of an argument there, although I do agree that it is kind of fishy, as I said, no real evidence against or for this whole argument over these updates.

those of you with problems, did you do a clean install, or just try to upgrade?
Skipping many versions in a lot of different programs and trying to just update can often result in problems. I suggest a clean install, and please let me know if you still experience problems. Not saying you won't, but just a theory.
I would really appreciate it if anyone out there struggling with these problems would give this a try.
