In photoshop you can save your picture in many different formats/file types. I've never really known much about the different choices but I've been told jpeg is for smaller file sizes so I normally use that format.

Which formats of the choices are standard for most uses? (ie uploadable onto must websites, facebook..)

I'd like to know what is a good format for possibly enhancing images, such as webcam pictures that are low res, as well as common useful formats so in the future I'll know what are the best choices depending on what i want.

alright thnx. on some pictures upping the quality reaally makes the picture look sharper. for my webcam pics all it really did was increase the size, but no matter, i didnt really expect them to get any better :)

For some of the highest quality pics you've ever seen, use GIF.

I disagree, I say saving them in PNG format is the best. I've been working with photoshop for almost 3 years now and I know people who have been working with it for more and we all agree, png is the best.

Hmmm that Jpeg image looks better then the png image to me but I guess it comes down to how one sees it.

I usually use png for web stuff, but maybe I should start using jpeg instead.

I save everything as a PNG, but then for uploading to websites and stuff I export each one as a JPG or a GIF.

For images such as Zed's where there is a lot of text, GIF usually comes out better quality with a smaller file size.
