I noticed many ppl top out in the ftp's @ 70mBps on the ftps and whatnot. I suppose this is due to the hdd limitations on the gbit bcuz the theoretical max should be 120mBps. SO why the hell do they buy 7200rpms??! Would a raid zero 15k drive setup achieve a write speed fast enough to top out a gbit?

zaa730 (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/../members/zaa730-175018) my avgspeed on ftprush is about 50 to 70 mb/sec most i hit was about 76 mb/sec on windows server 2003 std but that speed is frm one network

This server has been running for 5 months now 2x500 GB hd, 1GigBite, 4Gigs Ram, Cpu 2x AMD 5000+ = ftprush is about 50 to 70 mb/sec

uploading torrents is fast to only if i get people with servers downloading off me like eu network

It also depends on the protocol overhead, http or ftp are pretty good there and you get very close to the theoretical maximum. Worse protocols like smb wont give you anything near that speed.
