Most important of all :D

AdBlock isn't even an add-on any longer. It comes standard with FF.

Here's mine:

These are the ones I'd recommend to install.

http://image.bayimg.com/oajphaaba.jpg

For Adblock Plus, subscribe to one of the Filter Lists. To do this go to Preferences in Adblock Plus, click on the Fliters Menu Item, then "Add Filter Subscription". Here click on "View all subscriptions" and go through the list to select the ones best suited to you. I would recommend "Easylist + EasyElement".

Greasemonkey Scripts I use:
Mailto 2 Webmail
Disable Text ads - not sure if this even needed anymore
eBay Auction Enhancer
Googlenlarge
RS_Bundle
BayImg.com - Sweet Interface

The best way to check out add-ons is to just go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1 and check out the extensions they have. There is even a "most popular" list. However, just because they are popular, does not mean they are useful to you. For example. "Foxy-tunes" is one of the most popular extensions. But who would want to use a sub-par media player embedded in their browser, when they could use their own favorite media player independent from their browser? Personally, I use Adblock, minimize me, Forecast Fox enhannced, and tab mix plus...

View Source Chart. It's useful as a developer but probably even more so if you're not one and ever have to find something (like, say, the actual link to an embedded movie or sound file you want to save).

There's nothing complicated about it. Let the icon run in the lower right and when going to sites, just right click and allow them that's all, or click them on the website pages to allow, simple... ;)

All you want to FIRST allow is the DOMAIN name of the site you are visiting, allow as little as possible to stay safe.

FF and NoScript is the safest you can get...

I tried NoScript for FF before and thought it was too much work to configure and gave it another go and its not too much work. Just allow the sites you trust and ban all *ad* sites and dont allow sites you have no idea about.

Also FF addon site told me about this http://www.siteadvisor.com/ site. It seems to lookup sites and shows you info about them. Looks useful so far. Are there better ones?

Oh and NoScript found some tracking cookie crap here on FST. But its not working for me anymore :)

Yep true that, or run it off a portable drive or USB stick...

YEP It's not hard at all, easy...

All you want to really do at first is just allow the DOMAIN you are going to and leave all the ad sites and statistic crap denied, because in there with all that crap is where some of the bad boys might be....

PLUS something people don't realize either with NoScript is, even if a site you are going to is fine, by denying all the other stuff you kill ads, banners, popups this way, and also the sites load much faster.

I was a member on a free forum I made a forum on, the damm thing had like 10 different stats, ads sites that ran with it too, what a mess waiting for all the crap to load, so with NoScript I only allowed my forum domain name and then the forum loaded really fast...

Most of the time it's a great way to just get past all the crap and load a site fast...

Newest API I just found...

http://labs.mozilla.com/projects/firefox-personas/

Personas builds upon the ideas that:

* themes today are too hard to find, install and use
* graphic designers should be able to style the browser without having to code
* browsers can be more than just desktop software, they can include online components
* people just want their computer to be a little more fun and personal

We've just begun exploring the possible benefits of an online component to deliver a better browser experience. There much to explore in this regard; Personas is a simple example. Persona selector is dynamically loaded and populated from a JSON feed and all designs are loaded via URLs to remote resources. All changes to the browser chrome are applied instantly, with no need to restart.

I don't imbeed Keepass, it's a stand alone proggy that you can have run all the time and when you need a pass/username just click it, find the site and the pass you need and your good, it's one of the best "secure" and managable password savers I've seen...it's not a form filler password saver.

Damn... I thought I had a lot of add-ons installed. All those seem to be decently useful though.
I'm checking out the ones in your list that I don't have. Lots of stuff there looks like it could be of use to me (Ghostery, for example).

I think NoScript is the best and most needed add-on.

I used to use various add-on's for things like additional tab options/customization, tab session saving, hyperlinking plain text, and extra downloading options, but after multiple times of reinstalling firefox, I find that I don't always go back to them or bother looking for them. Plus everytime a new Firefox comes out, it seems like multiple add-on's are then no longer supported and you have to find a replacement or an equivalent. At one point I had a ton of tab sessions saved with an add-on and I think I lost them all due to that. I also remember one of the original tab option customization add-on's being discontinued when Firefox v2 first came out.

If you've updated to Firefox 4 and want to be able to move UI items around, here's an addon that will let you do that:

Be careful about the addons you install. The more addons, the slower the browser becomes. Mozilla want to address this problem now.

Mozilla: Each Firefox Add-on Adds 10% To Firefox Startup On Average

Add-ons can severely impact the startup time of the Firefox web browser: On average “each add-on you install adds about 10% to Firefox start-up time” notes Mozilla’s Justin Scott in a post at the Mozilla Add-Ons Blog. This means that the startup time of Firefox will on average double if ten add-ons are installed.

Mozilla has made the decision to improve overall add-on performance, and the blog post lists the plan of the Mozilla development team to improve the performance of add-ons in the Internet browser.
